I breathed a small sigh of relief and slowly nodded, and my whole body relaxed as if I had been that afraid of what he would say.
My mate chuckled and pressed a kiss to the side of my head, not caring that I stank and stank bad. "Are you glad that I said that, Lex?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question while he studied me.
"I am," I confirmed and nodded, biting back a tired sigh. "I do not want us to get hurt because you decided to act like an Alpha Male and think you need to protect me."
My mate chuckled again and rubbed my arm. "I don't like it," he admitted, "but I do not want you to get hurt because of this." He paused and licked his lips, hesitating while he shook his head. "Nor do I want you to hate me."
I didn't respond and squeezed him without saying a word.
I could never hate you...
My grandmother cleared her throat, and we pulled away from each other to look at her to see that she had a tight smile on her face. "Now that that is over with, why don't we start this meeting with everyone, yes?" she asked and raised an eyebrow in question while she looked between the two of us before she focused her gaze on my mate. "I know that what I had done to you, Levi, will not last long, and I do not think it would be a good idea if you "woke up" controlled in the middle of it, Dear." She gave my mate a pointed look and raised both eyebrows in unison.
Levi chuckled and nodded. "Yes, Grams," he said and rubbed my leg. He started to walk over to the door, and my grandmother watched him without moving from her spot.
"Did you want a shirt?" I asked before he could get too far away from her. "Or are you going to stay like that?"
'Awww, don't ruin my fun, Love,' Corey whined through the link teasingly, and I held back an eye roll and pressed my lips into a thin line.
'Shut up,' I said, earning a small snicker from Corey.
Levi stopped walking and sighed teasingly. "I guess," he said, and I couldn't help but growl at him in warning. "Hmph." He smirked and tucked his head closer to his chest while he stared at me. "Do you think you will be able to hold onto me while I put the shirt on?" he asked and cocked his head to the side while he looked at me.
No...
I pressed my lips into a thin line but didn't say what I was thinking. "We will figure it out," I said coldly, not wanting him to know how this was killing me or how much I was in pain.
"You usually do, Sweetheart," my grandmother said with a soft chuckle in her voice while she walked over to him with his shirt in her hands. "Here, Baby Boy, go ahead and put it on so that we can start this meeting."
"Grams," Levi groaned. He turned to look at her and pouted with mock tears in his eyes, and my grandmother chuckled.
"Now, now," she said teasingly. "There is no need to act like that. I will make sure that my granddaughter is still near you while you put on your shirt. We do not have much time to talk and some of us are ready for bed. Isn't that right, Dear?" She looked at me when she asked the last part.
I sighed tiredly and nodded. "Please," I said, my voice barely above a whisper and showing the emotions that I tried to keep hidden. "I am aching and tired. I need to take a shower and go to bed before I make sure that everything stays safe."
Levi set his jaw and nodded, and worry filled his eyes while he looked at me. "Ok," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. He shifted me to the side and took his shirt from my grandmother, noticing that there were no traces of blood on his shirt, much to our shock and amazement.
