"So what exactly do you need?" I asked Mason grumpily.

"I was just returning your call is all," he joked. "No but, what are you doing right now?"

"I'm watching a movie in my pjs, why?"

"Can I come over? I want to talk, you know, get to know each other better."

"Umm, I guess so."

"Cool, I'll be over in 10 minutes."

"Soph, could you get the door?" I asked as I finished making some popcorn. He let himself in though, Sophie was asleep I think. He strolled into the kitchen and sat in the couch.

"Hey there," he winked at me.

"Did you let yourself into my house??" I turned around to face him

"Technically, it's not yours. You only live here temporarily. By the way, where are you from?"

"New York city."

"Ahh, a city girl huh?" He said.

"Yep. Now, why did you defend me at the club?"

"The club? Oh, I was just looking out for you,....that's all."

"Mmmhm," I said and walked to sit down on the couch.

"We'll, tell me about yourself. Your cousin already told you all about me."

"Ok. I'm Mackenzie. I'm from New York. I love to paint, draw, read and write, and all of that artsy stuff. My parents both died before I turned 7, I've lived with my aunt and uncle ever since. Sophie is my cousin and I'm here for the summer to stay with her to take my mind off of home. That's it," I said and looked down at the floor. Suddenly, he scooted closer to me, our legs brushing.

"I'm so sorry about your parents. That must've been really hard."

"Yeah, but it's ok now."

"So, you love to paint and draw and all that stuff?"

"Yeah, I do."

"Maybe you could show me. I've never been one to do all that stuff. It sounds fun," he chuckled.

"Ok, it's a date."

Whoa, did I just say that out loud???

He laughed again.

"Yes, it's a date."
