When I arrived back at my aunt and uncle's house, I honestly didn't know what to expect. My aunt had been so mean and cruel when speaking about Sophie, about mason and about my choices. I was 22 years old so why did she care?

I walked in the house and my uncle roger was gone as usual. Probably drinking at a bar all day like he normally does. Aunt Judy walked into the living room, saw me and put her hands on her hips.

"Well it's about time! Come on, there's someone here to see you."

I walked into the kitchen that was dimly lit and saw my worst nightmare sitting at the table.

Bryce gave me a wide smile and got up to greet me. I started to back away but aunt judy pushed me toward him once more.

"Mac, I'm so glad you're back. I knew you'd forget about that dumb old country guy who probably can't spell his own name," Bryce chuckled.

"First of all, his name is Mason. Second of all, I did not come back for YOU. I honestly can't stand you! Do you not get that?!" I screamed.

"Now Mac, I think you should try and talk it out with Bryce. He has always been a good boyfriend to you and is always so nice and sweet to your uncle and I. You have given him no good reason why you broke up with him." Aunt Judy said.

This got me furious.


"No! You don't even know what happened aunt Judy! Let me tell you what this 'sweet caring guy' did. He was nice to me at the beginning and then the beatings started. He would beat me almost every day! I couldn't be in the same room with him unless someone else was in the room because I was so afraid! He told me I was ugly, worthless, trash. He made me feel like I was nothing. But you know what Bryce? I AM NOT all of those things. I don't need you in my life anymore and you will never be anything more than my douchebag ex boyfriend. So you can go now!"


He looked shocked that I stood up for myself. He slowly moved toward the door still looking at me and eventually walked out.


"Mac, I'm so sorry. I had no idea. I should have listened."


"Yeah, you should have. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm grabbing some of my things and getting back on the road to go back home."


"But Mac this is your home." Aunt judy said


"No. My home is not here. My home is with Sophie and mason and people that stand up for me, love me, and won't hurt me."


I packed up what I needed and headed out toward the car.


"Mac,"


I turned and snapped a very annoyed "WHAT?!" At aunt Judy.


"If you leave and are going to act this way, don't come back."



I glared at her and got in my car to drive away.




Tears spilled down my face as I sped down the street and toward the highway.

I didn't want to be there anyway, but the fact that my only family treated me that way ad then kicked me out really hurt. I guess I really was going to stay in the small little country town that made me so happy.

With this thought, I wiped away my tears and continued down the road toward my boyfriend, my cousin, my home.
