Mac ~As I piled all of my belongings into my small red car, I couldn't help but shed a little tear. Even though I was happy to be leaving this dysfunctional home for good, it was still my childhood home. The backyard I had learned to ride a bike in, the giant oak tree in the front yard that I had fallen out of when I was six and broken my arm from, the walls on the inside of the house that most every one had little dents in from me kicking and flipping and doing various things to in hopes that someday I would be able to be a ninja.
So many memories, but now all being left behind.I took one last look at the home located in the city I once called home, and drove away towards my new one.
Hours later, I saw the familiar welcome sign outside the town line. I couldn't help a smile spreading on my lips as I thought of mason and Sophie, everyone waiting for my return.
I parked outside of Sophie's,....our house in my usual place and sighed as I started to unload my things.
"MAC!!!!!!!!!" I heard her shout from the porch. It was about 9pm and there was no doubt in my mind she must bug the crap out of our neighbors constantly.
She throws her arms around me and even the French guy that I don't care for hugs me and says he missed me with his heavy accent.
"So are you back to stay???" Sophie asks me, taking notice of my overpacked car. I nod my head, at a loss for words.
"Yay! Mac I'm so glad! Wait till-"Her sentence is cut off as we see another car pull up in our driveway. Masons truck headlights blind my vision but I know it must be him.
Rachel is in the passenger seat and flailing her arms around trying to get my attention."Mac! Mac over here!!!" She waves and squirms out of the truck the second it comes to a halt.
She runs into my arms and wraps her arms around my neck. Is that a tear streaming down her face?
"Rachel, she was only gone for a week and a half." Mason chuckles behind her as he walks up to us.
Rachel rolls her eyes. "Mason, don't EVEN stand here and act like you weren't crying every day Mac wasn't here. Because y'all, I saw him! He was a mess without you Mac. I've never seen my brother mope around and be so depressed in my enti-"
"OK WE GET IT!" Mason shuts her up and everyone starts laughing hysterically.
I unwrap myself from Rachel as she starts talking to Sophie and mason pulls me off to the side of our group.
Immediately he wraps his arms around my waist and kisses me with a week and a halfs worth of passion. His kiss is urgent, needy, and mine is as well when I kiss him back.
"I hate to admit this, but everything my sister said back there was true. I was a mess without you."
"Aww Mason I missed you so much." I say and kiss his cheek. The slight blush on his cheeks makes me giggle at this tall, muscular man in front of me. I car imagine just spending a little time apart would cause him to break down like that.
"Let's not be apart like that ever again." I whisper into his chest as he wraps his arms around me to walk toward the house with me in his hold.
"That's a deal darlin."
