I had work the next morning at the library and it would be my first day so I lefts sons house early to get some sleep. I figured since I was probably going to be staying here a little longer than expected I should start paying a little more rent, so I got a job.

Sophie said I didn't need to and that I was fine, but I would feel bad if I didnt.

That day, I dressed in a black pencil skirt and sleeveless jade green shirt with buttons up the middle. I looked cry professional, yet casual enough for a librarian. I texted Sophie telling her where I would be. Ever dice what's his face came back with her, she's barely ever been home! Always out to dinner, at the movies, they even went to a random baseball game a couple of days ago that neither Francesco nor Sophie liked. But it was their business right?

I went to work and introduced myself to the head librarian boss lady, Jillian. Jillian was a middleaged woman with shoulder length black hair cut in a bob styled and bright red glasses. She must have been 5 feet maximum, she was so short! Even though she was tiny, she had this mean look about her. I learned quickly from the other girls who worked there to stay out of Jillian's way.

"Mackenzie! Where is that novel I told you to get for me am hour ago??" She barked at me.

"Umm, umm, I gave it to you already ma'am." I said quietly. Quite frankly, she scared the crap out of me!

"We'll I I can't find it! Keep looking!!"

Great. My boss already hates me.

At my lunch break, I grabbed my purse and headed to the diner that was a few minutes away.

I walked in and saw a familiar face sitting at a table. Kyle. He was one of masons friends, so I smiled and waved. He immediately waved back and motioned for me to come sit with him.

"Hey Mac! How's it goin?" He said

"Pretty good. What are you doing here?"

"Just on my lunch break. I'm assuming you are too." He said and smiled. Something about his smile and the way he looked at me made me feel awkward. I sat across from him in the booth and it still felt like he was I'm my own personal space. But I had to play nice and be cordial with masons friends so I just smiled back and nodded.

We had ordered lunch and made small talk throughout the meal. I got to know him a little better and he wasn't a bad guy. I them checked the clock and realized I had to be getting back to work.

"We'll, I have to go back to work. It's been nice having lunch with you. See you-"

"Oh I have to leave too, I'll walk you to your car."

"Oh you don't have to do that." I said

"I know, but you never know, there's some bad guys in town, and with a pretty girl like you, we shouldn't take any chances." He said and flashed a cocky grin. It made me squirm with a disgusting feeling inside. Ugh.

When we reached my car which took all of a minute to get to, I turned to face Kyle and thank him. When I did, I was suddenly pushed against the side of my car, with him pinning me there and hovering over me, inches away from my face. I looked into his eyes. I already knew my eyes must be full of fear and terror right now, but all I could see were his, filled with lust and desire.

"Mac," he breathed against my face. "I, I need you to understand something. I am so much better than mason. I could give you so much more out of a relationship than he ever-"

"Enough Kyle! Mason is my boyfriend, not you. So BACK OFF." I said and tried to shrug out of his embrace. He however had other plans.

His lips crashed down onto mine with such force that I could have sworn I felt my lips being torn apart like pages ripped out of a book. They attacked my lips, my cheeks, my neck. And the whole time, I hated Kyle, but I didn't stop him for some reason. I let him. At one point, I was pretty sure I was the one who put my hands around his neck to deepen the kiss.

After things had gotten out of control, I pulled away.

"Mac? What's going on???"

"Mason? What are you-"

"Save it! I know what I saw!" He shouted and stormed off to his own car and drove away.
