The house was quiet, heavy with the weight of anticipation. Khalil had called all of them, Nabila and Khadijah asking him to meet him at home and that he has something important to tell them which can not be on phone. They agreed and drive down to their parent how. Meanwhile, Khalil stood by the living room window, watching the wind rustle the curtains. He could hear soft murmurs from the hallway, his sisters had arrived, his father was seated, and his mother which he knew, was still fuming and Amal was sitting crossed legs on the carpet.

He took a deep breath and turned to face them.It was time.

They had all gathered in the sitting room, his father, solemn with his arms crossed, Nabila, Khadijah and Amal were seated too with uncertainty marrying their faces. Amal taped Nabila and whispered when she turned. "What's going on, the air is tensed!"

"I think Khalil has some announcement and for a fact mama doesn't look good!" She whispers, looking at their mother and his mother, seated with her jaw tight, eyes refusing to meet his.

Khalil stepped in slowly, not as the brother they knew, not even as a son but as a man who had failed, and who was finally ready to own it.

"Assalamu Alaikum, Thank you all for coming," he said quietly, eyes scanning each face. He let a deep breath before he continued. "I know this is not easy... and I'm not expecting it to be."

No one replied.

He nodded slightly, swallowing the lump rising in his throat. "I've been assumed of murder!" He disclosed. Just as a time bomb, the whole room gasped as they stared at him in shook. His father sat up angrily! "What do you mean!?" He yelled but Khalil remain silent not meeting his eyes.

"Murder, you my son!? No how comes. It's not true right!?" His mother pleaded as she sat at the edge of the couch. Khalil shook his head. As Khadijah stared at her brother calmly. She knows him to well to admit something he hasn't done.

"Tomorrow is the trial. The murder trial."

His mother's lips parted in a silent gasp. She never knew and hearing it aloud, it stung. "I... I'm not proud of where I am right now. I've made mistakes. Too many to count. Some I can't even explain without sounding like someone else entirely. But I need you to hear this from me, not the news, not the court."

His younger sister, Amal , shifted uneasily in her seat. Nabila, clutched her scarf a little tighter. They never expected this coming from their brother. "Tsk! Why are you all of this Khalil. I am very disappointed in you. A murder? My own son? Killed someone one!? Hasbinalahu wa ni'imal qaleen! I'm so disappointed!"

"Baba, he is accused, not that he actual did it!" Khadijah tried to interject for him but their father refused to believe. "I knew Khalil has been going around doing all sort of nonsense, he can't keep his wife and he can't even keep the company and now he is accused of murder!? Ya Allah. He alarmist killer himself in an accident. Khalil why are you doing this!" His father shouted on top of his lungs that shivers Amal. It's been a while since they saw their father this angry.

"I wish I could prove yo you that I didn't do it, I didn't even know about it until I was discharged from the hospital. But I've hired a lawyer," Khalil continued. "Someone I trust, and It's Summayyah."

His father looked up sharply at that. "Summayyah?"

Khalil nodded. "Yes. She believes in my case. And I believe in her. I'm not asking you to understand it, but I need you to know that I'm doing everything I can to come out clean."

Silence fell again. And then, his mother finally spoke, her voice trembling. "You... you let this happen. You dragged our name into filth. Do you know what people are saying about us? As if having the company bankrupt isn't enough and now Murder case and Summayyah of all people is your lawyer!? I don't accept it!" She hissed.
