The next morning at her Firm, The atmosphere in the conference room was thick with quiet anticipation. The polished glass table reflected the mid-morning light, and the hum of the air conditioner was the only sound until CEO Natasha finally entered, clipboard in hand, eyes sharp as always.

"Good morning, team," she said, settling into her seat at the head of the table. "We have a lot to cover today. Let's make it quick and clear."

Everyone straightened. Hamza shifted in his seat with his usual impatience, while Hadiza barely spared him a glance, her fingers already poised with her pen. Eric leaned back with a lazy smirk, and Daniel nodded silently, waiting his turn. Summayyah sat composed, her mind already two steps ahead.

"We'll start with feedback on the cases each of you handled," Natasha said, flipping through her notes.

One after the other, they gave their reports. Hamza and Hadiza managed to get through theirs with clipped words and zero eye contact, the tension between them still very much alive. Eric threw in a smug remark or two, which Daniel ignored entirely as he presented with quiet precision.

Then Natasha turned to Summayyah. "You did well on your last trial. Now, your next case has been called to trial. Be ready."

Summayyah nodded without hesitation. "I'm ready. Whatever it is, I'm prepared."

Natasha gave a small approving smile, but then added, "But there's a twist. Maryam has gotten herself a new lawyer. Not from HXH... she went to Abia & Associates."

That brought a ripple of surprise around the table."She went all the way to hire an Igbo man?" Eric asked, eyebrows raised.

"Bold of her," Hadiza muttered under her breath.

Natasha continued, "It's unexpected, but not illegal. And considering the stakes, she's pulling every string she can."

"And William?" Daniel asked.

"He'll serve as a witness in his own matter," Natasha replied. "His case will be handled by the state. But it's all interconnected now."

Summayyah sat still, absorbing the shift. A new opponent meant new strategies. But her resolve didn't waver.

"I'll still take it head-on," she said calmly. "No matter who's on the other side."

Natasha gave her a nod of confidence before moving on to the next point. The meeting continued, but in the back of Summayyah's mind, a new fire had been lit.

Maryam wasn't playing small anymore. But neither was she.

The meeting ended with the usual rustle of papers and scattered conversations, but Summayyah stayed back, gathering her things slowly. She could feel two familiar presences linger near the doorway. Eric, lean casually against the frame with that teasing look in his eyes, and Daniel, calm as ever, holding two takeaway coffee cups.

Oh how I miss coffee!

"Ready to talk strategy or should we gossip first?" Eric asked, stepping into the room.

Daniel handed Summayyah one of the cups. "It's the one you like. I figured you'd need it after that surprise."

She accepted it with a small smile. "Thank you, Daniel. And Eric, we both know you're incapable of keeping gossip out of strategy."
