The weekend passed by in a blink of an eye while Sumayyah and Faruq kept lazing around, crying and asking Rukayyah to grant them one more day as weekend.
She layed on the sofa with a bored expression. "I am not God!" She humpt looking away. Sumayyah and Faruq exchanged looks before they let the discussion end there. She went further than they were expecting and of course, she can't be God, but does she have to say that so seriously?
They had a family tea time on Sunday and it lasted from after Isha prayer to 11pm. It was fun as it always is, playing chess, ludo, video games and watching Islamic shows. However, seeing Sumayyah and Faruq vibing and playing with Azman had her second guessing if they actually fought, but she still needed to clear her doubt.
The night deepens as Azman immediately fell asleep on his mothers laps and upon seeing that, she excused herself to take him to bed and the parlour was left with Faruq and Rukayyah.
Silence between them grew immediately. Her mind was messy while he was busy watching the news. Noticing her to be lousy, he found it amiss to see her silent.
"Do you wanna say something?" He asked, his eyes fixed on the TV while bringing her out of her thoughts, she quickly answered. "N... No, I'm fine!"
"Mm!" He nodded. "Is the baby kicking already?" He asked, dropping the remote and walking towards her side. She was confused until she saw him sitting next to her and spreading his arms on the top of the sofa.
She raised a brow. "What are you doing?"
"Supporting my wife of course. Now lay on my lap while I rub your belly. It must be so heavy!" He said. She chuckled and laid Immediately. "The baby is healthy, I feel she will kick in the midnight!"
"What? No! She shouldn't, we need not have a midnight emergency!" He lamented, while she laughed. Meanwhile, Sumayyah had just put Azman to bed and coming out of his room, she halted seeing the two of them laughing at their own jokes. They looked cute together, she thought as she felt a sudden left out so before they could see her, she returned to Azman's room and decided to call it a night with her son.
The next day, as early as 8Am, Summayyah was all ready for work as she met Rukayyah seated at the dining table sipping some green tea. She stopped and greeted her. "You're up early!"
Rukayyah nodded. "I was finding it hard to sleep alone" She answered. Summayyah brows furrowed with curiosity. Wasn't it yesterday she and Faruq were bonding? Did something happen while she was in Azman's room? She thought as she quickly sat beside her in the dinning.
"Was the baby kicking?"
Rukayyah shook her head. "No. Well it's like I..." She sighs. "Never mind, you would be late for work"
"No, tell me. You want us to do another check up? If the baby is giving you a hard time, we can bring it out."
Rukayyah chuckled. "How will I bring out a baby when she's not ready to come out. Get going..." She nudged her. "It's a hectic Monday!"
Summayyah laughed and got up. "I got a call from NTIC, I will see them before heading to the firm. Azman will be a school boy soon!" She squeals.
Rukayyah gasped in amazement. "Are you for real? Awn my baby will be busy" She sniffles. "Summy! You don't always have time for this boy and putting him in school, isn't it a bit too early? why not wait till he is four. Maybe when he is half in his Islamiya.(islamic school?) She suggested.
