He came the next day around 10.30. I was in the class, helping others in journal completion when he came and stood outside the class, trying to peep through the window.
"Hey." I smiled and waved at him. I was on the last bench.
"I'll be outside." He mouthed and walked slowly away on the other side.
I came out and saw him pacing down ghe corridor.
"Hello, Puneet." I smiled.
"Where are we supposed to certify the journals?" He asked, without looking at me.
"In the vice principal's office, second floor." I answered.
"Okay. So let's get going in AB." He said, staring at me for a second and then looking down again. "For completion, I mean."
"Sure." I said and we went in one if the AB classrooms.
I sat down on the bench and told him to sit next to me so that I could show him how to work out the maps.
He sat. Our arms touched with each other and I felt goosebumps. It was our first touch.
"Uh..." He said awkwardly, "Just show me which maps to complete, I'll do them."
"Here." I pointed towards two maps and described how to fill them.
"Thanks. I'll do it. You go and certify your journal." He stood up and sat on the bench opposite me.
Ugh! This guy's so shy!
"It's okay. I'll go with you." I blushed.
After certification, he went out with his friends and I went to bus stop.
That night, after dinner, as I was about to turn my PC on, it didn't show any sign of turning on.
Files were corrupted and that meant a formatting process. Oh no! I wanted to bang my head somewhere. This can't happen.
On the other side, he might be waiting on Facebook for me. And unfortunately, I didn't put a net pack on my phone as my finals were coming up and I didn't wanna divert my attention.
That night, I went to bed all melancholic.
Days went by, and I started missing him more. He wouldn't show up in college as the submissions were done nor would he text or call.
I wanted to message him badly. And the PC was still unrepaired. I wanted to hit the store manager.
Finally, on 1st Jan, the PC was repaired and I jumped in excitement as I logged on Facebook.
There was no message from him. That was upsetting. I mean, I was expecting at least one message from him as I was absent the whole week.
He was offline, but I thought of messaging him.
Me: Hey! ;)
I was checking the posts of my relatives when he replied suddenly.
He: Hi.
Me: What's up?
He: Nothing. Just sitting. You're online after many days, huh?
Me: Yep. PC was to be repaired. Also was busy.
He: Studying?
Me: Yep. Final preparation, u know.
He: Hmm. How was 31st?
Me: Good. (Technically, we don't celebrate 31st!) What about u? Did u do anywhere?
He: Didn't go anywhere. Just had a small party at night with friends.
Me: Oh, nice. Btw, happy new year. :* (That was the first time I had sent him a kissing smiley!)
He: Thanks. And same to u.
Me: Thank u. My text pack is not working. So couldn't text u.
He: If u need urgently, I can get it.
