I put my lip gloss for the fifth time once I was upstairs, near the terrace door in college.
I had my PE final exam on 18th Jan. Last night, I had a short chat with him.
Me: Hey.
He: Hi.
Me: Watcha doing?
He: Watching TV. U?
Me: Watching the Conjuring. I won't be able to sleep tonight.
He: Obviously. Had dinner?
Me: Not yet. U?
He: Done.
Me: Will u come tomorrow to college? Wanna see u.
He: At what time?
Me: Tomorrow I have got my PE at 8. I'll be free till 10. Come after 10.
He: Shall we go for a movie tomorrow?
Me: Not tomorrow. I'll get late. Umm...meet me upstairs. Near AB 5. There's this terrace. The door is locked. There's some space there.
He: Ok. I'll come at 10.
Me: Well, will u do me a favor?
He: Yeah. Say.
Me: R u sure?
He: Yeah. Plz say.
Me: Will u kiss me tomorrow? (Oh no, Rishika, what did you just say?)
He: I can't.
Me: Why?
He: R u crazy? I mean, we just got into a relationship day before yesterday.
Me: So?
He: Then you're asking for a kiss so soon, huh?
Me: Sorry. I shouldn't have.
He: Fine. I'll try.
Me: Okay.
He: Goodnight.
Me: Goodnight. Sweet dreams.Uh huh! Did I just make him upset or something? I scratched my head and cursed myself for being so straightforward without even thinking about the consequences.
Today, after PE, I went upstairs near terrace and looked at my reflection on my phone's screen a million times as I put on my mango flavoured lip gloss.
I was on my PE uniform- a white collared T-shirt and a navy blue track pant. I looked okay.
I sat on the floor, leaning against the wall so nobody could see me and waited patiently for him.
It was 10.20 when I heard footsteps coming upstairs. I sat still, looking forward to see him.
He came and stood next to me. I looked up. He was staring down at me with a shy smile. He was wearing a light pink full sleeved shirt and jeans. His hair was messy. Seemed like he had drove his Activa in the top speed.
"Hi." I smiled as I gestured him to sit.
"Hey." He sat down, blushing all the while.
"How are you?" I asked, looking at his facial features closely.
"I'm good." He smiled. "And you?"
"Just fine." I said.
"How was your PE exam?" He asked.
"It was okay. I don't like PE." I scowled.
"I know. You had told me before." He said.
We sat there in silence, hearing other's talks on the third floor as nobody much came here.
He was staring at me in between and then looking away again with a smile.
"What?" I poked his ribs.
"Nothing." He laughed, blushing.
"You're blushing, Ido." I giggled.
"Ido?" He frowned.
"Yeah. Ido- short form of idiot. I'm gonna call you that." I chuckled.
"Okay." He smiled gently.
"So cute." I pulled his cheeks. He did look cute when he smiled.
We sat for more ten minutes in silence.
I knew the time was passing by fast and I needed to take a step ahead myself.
I looked at his face and he turned his face towards me to look back.
Our eyes locked. We sat in that position for five minutes. Then slowly, our faces came closer and closer till our lips were just inches apart.
"Kiss me." I whispered, looking in his eyes.
His eyebrows rose and he closed his eyes. He moved his face and the gap of an inch vanished. Then I felt his lips on mine. He moved his lips softly, not impatient nor desperate. I kissed him back. Our lips moved in gentle synchronization. We kissed for two minutes and I paused to breathe.
"Wow!" I licked my lip. "That was great."
He didn't say anything and there was silence again.
"Let's try again." I giggled, taking his face in my hands.
"Rishika, it's enough for today. Will kiss some other day. Please." He pleaded.
"Please. Just once." I cried and the next thing I knew was his lips crushing on mine again and filling me with a sweet smell.
That was our first kiss. I wanted to sit there and cherish the moment. But we had to go, of course. Half an hour later, we went downstairs.
"I'll drop you today." He said as I walked with him to his Activa. "Your bus stop is five minutes from here, right?"
"Okay." I blushed. "Yeah. It is."
"Sit." He took his vehicle out of the parking lot and came by my side.
I touched his shoulder gently and got on his vehicle. He shivered a little.
"Is it okay?" I asked as I put both my hands around his waist.
"Yeah." He whispered and drove me to bus stop.
"Thanks." I smiled as I got down.
"You're welcome." He smiled back. "Shall I leave?"
"Yeah. Sure." I said.
"Okay. Bye. I..." He hesitated.
"Say it, please, Ido." I giggled.
"I love you." He blushed.
"I love you, too." I smiled.
That was the first day he had ever told me that he loved me lively.
