I climbed back in bed. "He's fine. Everything is fine now. He says goodnight."
"Good." Miranda replied as she laid next to me. It was quiet for several minutes.
"Are we just gonna avoid what that demon said?"
"What?"
"You know what. Who was Henry and what did you do?" I asked somewhat impatiently.
"Sam. I don't know how to tell you without you hating me for not telling you or Dean."
"Hey." I said, bringing her face to look at me. "I'm not gonna hate you. Do you want Dean in here for this too?" She nodded. I got Dean.
"Promise you guys won't hate me?"
"We promise." We both said.
"Ok. Henry was one of the guys I dated. It turns out he was a demon. I found out fairly quickly, but still."
"That's it? Big whoop, you dated him. Why do they care?" Dean asked
"I'm not done. Once I found out, I killed him..... My mom was a hunter in addition to being a nurse. She taught me some. I learned how to defend myself a little bit. I wasn't always very good as you saw tonight, but I knew what to do. I had a chance and I took it."
Dean started pacing in anger. "You didn't think to tell us that demons are out there with a price on your head? You didn't think to tell us you were at least somewhat a hunter? You didn't think they might have been good things to know?" Dean asked angrily.
"I don't hunt that much. I wasn't very good. And I didn't know they'd find me."
"Your mom taught you hunting stuff and yet you say you didn't know they'd find you and want you dead after you killed him? Some Hunter she raised you to be!" Dean snapped angrily and left the room. She had tears in her eyes. I tried to pull her in for a hug but she shoved me off.
"Just stay away from me Sam. I know you hate me too." She said before climbing out of bed and heading to the couch. After a couple minutes letting her cool down, I headed out to her.
"Miranda. I don't hate you, and I'm not mad. I told you I wouldn't hate you."
"So did Dean."
" I know. He doesn't hate you. He's just mad. He'll get over it."
"Why aren't you mad?"
"Because it's an easy mistake. You can't always tell someone's a demon right away and them wanting you dead is not necessarily the first thing that pops into anyone's head."
"But Sam, I'm attracting demons to you guys, and I didn't tell you I hunted."
"We'll deal with them. We'll be extra careful when you leave the bunker. It's ok. And yeah, I wish you had told me you hunted, but oh well. It's not that big of a deal. You didn't think you were very good so it wasn't worth mentioning, and I understand that." She started crying harder. "Baby. Baby. It's ok. What's wrong now?"
"I almost got you and Ethan killed."
"I said I'm not mad. Ethan's not mad either. We'll have to tell him, but I think he'll be ok. We can have Dean tell him once he's calmer. He did a miracle with all the dad stuff and Ethan."
"Ok." She said. I used my thumb to wipe away her tears. She hooked her arms around my neck. I picked her up bridal style and carried her back to bed. We laid in bed with her head on my chest.
"I'm sorry, Sam."
"Don't be. It's not your fault. Don't beat yourself up about this. It's ok." She nodded. We laid there for a few minutes as I played with her hair. She eventually fell asleep and I kissed her forehead.
"I love you baby. Goodnight." I said softly
She faintly mumbled. "Love you too." And I eventually succumbed to sleep.
