Maya's POV
I gained hope after Josh said that he would do anything to be with me...even wait...until I'm ready. That was two weeks ago. Now that we're just friends, he would just drop by occasionally. It was a little awkward at first, but I felt...a LOT more comfortable. One day, someone knocked on the door.
Maya: (opens the door) ...Josh. W-What are you doing here?
Josh: Do you...maybe...um...want to hang out? Like...as friends.
Maya: (smiles and bites her bottom lip) Um, sure. Just let me text Riley. (grabs out her phone and starts texting Riley)
Maya: Riles?
Riley: Yeah?
Maya: I'm gonna hang out with Josh. I'll be back soon.
Riley: K. Take care :)
Maya: You too.
Maya: I'm ready.
Josh: Let's go?
Maya: Yeah.
We kept walking until we reached the outside of the building.
Josh: Where to?
Maya: Well, I haven't been to the arcade yet.
Josh: Ok. Let's go. (starts walking with Maya)
We walked for about ten minutes when we reached the arcade. Don't get me wrong, I was excited, but Josh was WAY more excited. It's like he let out his inner child. The way he was not afraid to be himself made me blush.
Maya: How is it possible that you're older than me?
Josh: (laughs) I don't know.
He stared at me for the longest time. I felt my cheeks getting hotter and hotter by the second, and I remembered that we were just friends. I interrupted our stare.
Maya: Um, do you want to play table hockey?
Josh: Um, sure.
To play table hockey, we had to put fifty cents in. I grabbed two quarters, and when I was about to insert them, Josh's hand was right there.
Maya: Um, I got it.
Josh: No, it's okay. I got it.
Maya: ...Why don't we just both pay twenty-five cents each?
Josh: Okay.
We both put in our quarters and started playing. It was a tight game. The next person to score one more point was the winner. Finally, I scored the last point.
Maya: YES! I win! You lose!
Josh: You're so competitive.
Maya: You're just mad because I won! (laughs hysterically)
Josh: (carries Maya)
Maya: Hey! Put me down! I mean it!
Josh: (puts Maya down) I think I won that round.
Maya: There was no round!
Josh: You're just mad because I won! (laughs hysterically and walks away)
Maya: (sticks her tongue out at Josh and follows him)
