Rain looked at him trying to read between the lines. There was something in his voice, in the way he was looking in his eyes.
"Yeah, but... you kinda sound like you are doubting me."
He paused for a beat, then narrowed his eyes slightly pointing a finger at Phayu.
"Or are you... jealous?"
Phayu scoffed, quickly looked away, clearly caught off guard. "Jealous? Me? Huhh! Why would I be jealous of my own cousin? You are saying nonsense!" He said shifting uncomfortably in his place.
A small smile tugged at Rain's lips. He is jealous. He could see it now plain as day. He is definitely jealous. And that's why he had come all the way here, leaving his work. Okay this is fun! So..if he teased him just a little...there won't be any harm right?
"I don't know," Rain started trying to sound casual. "Maybe because he sings really well? And I have always been a big fan of him..."
Okay no reaction!
"Or maybe" Rain continued his voice softer now "because he told me he liked me once..."
Still no reaction.
"Or maybe.....because he said I should leave my husband and come to him."
That did it. Phayu turned sharply to face him, eyes narrowed. If a stare could set something on fire, then phayu's stare would set the car on fire.
"No, he did not!" Phayu said through his clenched teeth. Just the thought of Winnie saying something like that to Rain made his blood boil. And if he really did, then maybe it was time to let everyone know exactly who Rain's husband is. And that rain was his. His wife. His person. The one he had married.
Especially Winnie.
Rain quickly shook his head with a small nervous laugh. "Okay, okay. That's enough teasing... I was joking. Well Mostly."
"I DON'T LIKE THAT," Phayu said, voice low, putting pressure on each word.
"Why? Scared I will actually run away with your cousin?"
Phayu shot him a hard look, the scowl getting more serious on his face and his eyes...God, his eyes...burned like he was dead serious.
"I know you won't," he said simply. Then, without warning, he slipped an arm around Rain's waist and pulled him in, so close that Rain could barely breathe for a second.
"You can't leave me," Phayu whispered. "And if something like that ever happens... I will find you and that person, no matter where you are. Even from hell.
"You can't escape me unless I let you."
Rain's heart skipped a beat. No..it stopped for a second.
The way Phayu said it... that possessiveness, that raw intensity, it almost felt like... like they were one of those crazy in-love couples who would lose their minds without each other. And before he could even think it through, he reached up, holding the back of Phayu's head, and pressed a kiss to his lips, it was short but intense.
"I am not planning to," Rain breathed out against his lips, pecking them one more time and then rested his head quietly against Phayu's shoulder, eyes looking outside.
He didn't notice the way Phayu stared down at him...first surprised, then softening and then finally, a small smile tugged at the corner of his lips, as he held Rain tighter.
"Let's go for a walk after dinner," Rain said casually. "The weather looks really nice and romantic."
