"Hello Paa," Rain greeted Pete once he reached near him. "You're here?"
Instead of answering, Pete hugged him tightly, catching him off guard . "Yes, I came to see you. I called Phayu, but he wasn't picking up, and your phone was off. I got a little worried when I couldn't reach any of you, When I called home, they said you hadn't come back from university yet, so I thought, why not take this opportunity to pick up my son-in-law myself and have a little date with him? As your husband rarely takes you home to visit us, so here I am."
Rain let out the breath he had been holding unknowingly. Thank God, it's not what I was thinking. Rain thought, Pushing aside his worries, Rain beamed with happiness, at least someone who remembered and cared for him a little.
"I'm sorry, Paa, but yesterday I accidentally dropped my phone and it broke, sorry to make you worry," Rain explained.
"Ah, I see. It's okay, now come on, let's go, I have a very good place in my mind," Pete turned as the bodyguard opened the door for them. They both got inside.
"How was your day?" Pete asked once the car started moving.
"It was good, Paa,"
"I heard you were very busy for the past few days and also came home late at night, is everything alright?" Pete looked deeply into rains eyes.
"Yes paa, everything is alright, I was just busy with some university work, there was an event so I was just a little busy with that" Rain answered, not sure if he should tell pete about his performance or not.
"Event? I hope you haven't tired yourself much and taken care of your health, and Where's Phayu? I haven't seen him for days. He didn't even come home. Is everything okay between you two? Is he taking care of you? " Pete asked, shifting in his seat.
"Phayu!" For a moment Rain was speechless, unsure of what to say. What could he tell Pete about where Phayu was? when he himself doesn't know. He couldn't say last time he know was, Phayu was with his girlfriend. So rain tried to come up with a lie. "Everything's fine between us, and phayu... he must be busy with his work, yeah he is busy" Rain scratched the back of his head nervously.
"Busy? Hm!! You know you are terrible at lying, rain, so you should not try to lie and that too for brat of a son of mine, no less?" Pete's said shocking Rain. He tried to say something, but Pete stopped him with a gesture.
"You don't need to lie rain. Don't think I don't know what's if he is really taking care of you or not, I know what's happening between you two or around you. I know very well where my son is, so you don't need to lie for him and save him, I'm also aware of all the other things..rumors and all. So there's no need to lie for him."
Rain's eyes widened in shock. "You... you know about... Winnie?" Rain stammered.
Pete laughed hearing that question "Yes, I'm not that out of touch, Rain. I use social media, so of course I know if my son-in-law is making headlines, and for the other things I have my ways."
"Are... Are you upset with me and you here to talk about that? Trust me paa, it's nothing like that"
"I know" Pete simply said making rain confused, "why are you looking at me like that? He asked chuckling, seeing the confusing expression on rains face.
" Are you not... angry with me?" Rain asked in a low voice.
Pete immediately took Rain's hand in his. "Why would I be angry with you when I know you wouldn't do anything like that? As much as I know you, I think you know your limits and your responsibilities, and I trust you. It's not your fault. With your charm and personality, people naturally attract toward you. So, I'm not surprised if my nephew is smitten."
