Chapter 30: Family Trip
After a week, we finally had our "family" time together. Obviously, this is not one of my plans.
We're still on the road. I'm in the passenger seat.
Thunder told me that Rage requested this, and he can't say no to our son.
My lips parted in awe when we turned a corner, and the open sea came into view. The setting sun painted the sky in hues of orange and pink, the waves catching the light like scattered diamonds. It was the kind of scene that makes you forget your worries.
I also took a photo of Rage in the backseat. Himbing na himbing ang tulog neto. Pano ba naman kasi, halos hindi na siya makatulog kagabi because he was excited.
I scrolled through the photos, my thumb pausing when I caught a glimpse of Thunder’s reflection in the window, his sharp jawline, the slight crease between his brows, his intense focus on the road.
A small smile tugged at my lips before I could stop it. He looked so serious, almost god-like in the way he handled the car, his features highlighted by the warm, golden light of the setting sun.
"What are you smiling at?" napatikhim ako nang magsalita ang lalaki, na para bang nabalik ako sa katinuan.
"N-nothing." pagsisinungaling ko pa. Why would I tell him that I felt happy upon seeing his face on my damn phone driving seriously in his own car like a goddamn demigod? Like excuse me he's so hot!
What the hell? Why would I think of that?
"Let me see." pangungulit niya pa, but I just shook my head. Bakit ko ipapakita sa kaniya! Nakakahiya yun. I'd rather die than let him see it.
"Si Rage lang." pag rarason ko pa.
He didn't seem convinced yet he nodded.
"Are we there yet, my, dy?" I looked back. Rage is rubbing his eyes, namumula pa ito dahil bagong gising siya.
"Almost, baby."
I looked at Thunder. Siya ang sumagot. Hindi ko rin naman alam kung ano ang isasagot because in the first place, I don't even know where we're going. I just tag along with them.
The whole ride was long. I can say that medjo malayo na kami sa city. It was 3 to 4 hours drive.
By the time we pulled into the hotel’s driveway, the sky had darkened into a deep, star-studded blue, the air cooler and tinged with the faint scent of salt and coconut.
The receptionist greeted as with a whole smile, na para bang hindi pa siya pagod kaka entertain sa mga guest na dumadating. I commend her for that.
"I booked a room." it was Thunder talking to the receptionist.
"Yes, sir. Under what name?" agad namang sinabi ni Thunder ang pangalan niya.
It was a smooth transaction, madali lang naman natapos. The receptionist told us that we booked the most magnificent room in their hotel because the view there is breath taking.
And I couldn't agree with her no more. She's right! I was in awe with the view. The entire front wall was made of glass, revealing a panoramic view of the ocean, the moon’s reflection stretching across the water like a glowing path to another world. The waves shimmered under the moonlight, the distant sound of crashing surf filling the silence.
