"Damn rest," I huffed as I got out of bed.

Three days had passed since Captain Levi and the rest of his squad left the Survey Corps headquarters. My squad, along with Commander Erwin, had been put on 'bed rest' duty. The first day had been fine. I spent long hours sleeping and sipping warm drinks, my mind drifting to how a certain Captain was doing with his new squad. But by day two, I was completely and totally over it.

"Enough is enough," I mumbled dressing quickly on the morning of day three. While the past couple of days had brought considerable healing, the burns on my skin still pulsed with a stinging reminder of the past week. Angry red patches stubbornly clung to my arms and legs, the doctor's grim prediction of scars echoing in my mind. The treatments, though helpful, had their limits.

I walked out of my room now dressed. My hair was displaying its usual unruliness. Deeming it a lost cause, I continued down the hallway towards Hange's room

I pushed the door open and stopped short, my eyes adjusting to the dim light. Hange was asleep, as expected. But then I saw Moblit. He was also in Hange's bed... and seemingly without a stitch of clothing.

"Oh, God," I slammed a hand over my eyes and made my way for the door.

"Birdie?" Hange groaned, a hand rubbing the sleep from her eyes.

"I-I am so sorry, Squad Leader," I clumsily saluted. "I will be on my way."

"You're fine, Birdie." Hange yawned and shook Moblit awake. "Give me a moment."

As I gently closed the door, a soft giggle escaped my lips, a stark contrast to the blush that painted my cheeks. My Squad Leader, however, seemed unfazed by the scene I had just witnessed, a fact that was undeniably clear and, frankly, a little amusing. So, this was her idea of 'rest.'

Hange exited her room, softly closing the door behind her.

"What is it?" She asked, not embarrassed in the slightest at my discovery.

"I always wondered about you two," I softly smiled.

With a laugh, she shrugged. "The heart wants what it wants, doesn't it?"

"His affection for you is quite evident," I observed. "I am just glad you two are happy."

"Thank-"

A figure barreling down the hallway stopped Hange mid sentence.

"Squad Leader!" It was Abel.

"What is it?"Hange asked.

"The priest," he gasped, his hands falling to his knees. "He's d-dead."

Chaos unfolded as we made our way to where Minister Nick had been housed.

"Found dead?" Hange exclaimed, rushing to his room as she slipped on her jacket. "How?"

"We don't know yet." Abel explained as he followed her. Moblit and I close behind. "The MPs are investigating right now."

"Nick!" Hange pushed her way past an MP to get into his room.

"Hey!" He pushed her, her back slamming into Moblit.
