Chapter 33. An Inkling.

Umemiya, surprised by her cold expression, removed his hand on her forehead.

"O-oh... sorry." He says, rubbing his temples in embarrassment as he swallows the forming lump on his throat.

'Am I too touchy?' He thought.

"Anyways, Senpai, why are you here again? Don't tell me you've been downgraded? Is that why you're continuously here?" She smirks.

It's best not to give in to that little bit of feeling growing deep inside her, but that doesn't mean she has to stay away, right? At least not this fast, and it's even just a one-sided infatuation, so it's stupid. In any case, it may also give birth to nonsensical suspicions, so self-control is what is best. It is what is best for the current situation.

"No... about that... I just came here to have a conversation with the boys." She raises an eyebrow with his choice of words, but Umemiya only avoids her gaze when he notices her side-eyeing him.

'It's a slip of the tongue.' he thought, praying she wouldn't chastise him for his mistake.

Yuki sighed. "About what?"

"An assembly after class."

"Alright."

"You're coming too, right?"

"I... have somewhere else to go." Yuki muttered loud enough for Umemiya and the rest to hear.

"Where are you going?" He asked. His aura seems to calm down a bit, his embarrassment long gone.

"That... You don't need to know." This time, it was Yuki's turn to avoid his gaze, but Umemiya intends to get the answer.

"Tell me."

"... please."

But no matter how persistent he could be, he can't seem to win against her, so he soon shuts up when Yuki throws another glare his way.

Suo, noticing the mood, immediately tried to get the attention away from the two.

"Then, Umemiya-senpai, where is the assembly going to be held at?" His question immediately reached Sakura's ears, who spoke unconsciously. He must have voiced out his thoughts.

"Cafe Pothos!!"

When he noticed everyone's focus on him, his face immediately turned beet red.

"W-what?! What are you looking at?" His reaction gained snickers across the room, and a tease from Tsugeura.

"What is this Sakura-kun? Are you missing Tachibana-chan?"

"Huh? What are you even saying?!!!" But before Tsugeura can tease him even more, Umemiya stepped in and draped his arm around Sakura's shoulder.

"Alright, to Cafe Pothos we go!!" he exclaimed, which had earned everyone's enthusiasm.

After all, the meal they had shared together at Cafe Pothos was also good they couldn't reject Sakura's suggestion.

Everyone excitedly went back to their business, with Sakura shrugging Ume's arms around his shoulder and scoffing at the older one before going to his own seat. He was immediately surrounded by his circle of friends.

But still, with all the commotion and stuff going on, Umemiya's eyes couldn't help but wander on the silent one, Shinomiya Yuki.

Unlike the quiet Yuki, he couldn't stay calm as his heart continued to beat fast. He's extremely bothered.

'Where are you going?' He couldn't stop thinking.

"Is this really okay?" Yuki whispered as she stared at herself in her full mirror.

"But doesn't this look like I'm digging my own grave?"

Regretting agreeing to the situation she had gotten herself into, she moves away from the full mirror and rubs circles on her temple.

Presently, she is wearing a wig of brown colour with pink balayage highlights. As for her clothing, she put on a fitted white turtle neck top paired with a tweed skirt and skin toned stockings. She even puts on heels.

'What a headache.. how did I get myself into this situation again?'

Reminiscing, it was when she met Shizuoka.

It was just an ordinary day when she decided to go out of town and conduct a job seeking when she bumped into a wounded girl who seemed like she's been running for her life. She was going to ignore her when the girl grabbed her in the arm and stared at her with those pleading eyes, sobbing as she struggled to let out a voice.

"Please help me." She doesn't want to get into trouble again, but her conscience was already gnawing at her, and so reluctantly she did. She took the girl's hand and led her away from her chasers.

When they successfully lost them, the girl who introduced herself as Shizuoka led her to her workplace, where she was treated to a buffet of meals.

Shizuoka, who calmed down, began to converse with her until the topic of her job seeking was brought up. The girl clapped eagerly.

Aparently, the girl is a singer in that bar, and currently, her place of occupation is looking for a waitress. So, she got introduced to their boss and, after a few minutes, had the impromptu interview done.

Unexpectedly, she got accepted easily, which left her in a trance, and when she was about to exit the bar, someone yelled her name.

"Yuki-chan!" The word made her already baffled self tremble in anxiety. She forced her body to turn around and meet eyes with Shizuoka, with eyes widening in confusion and surprise.

"H-how?" She manages to utter.

"If you so ask, I'd say... an inkling? Anyway, I won't ask for the details, but here." She then hands her a paper bag, which Yuki hesitantly receives.

"Once again, thank you, Yuki-chan, for saving me... then see you!!!" She smiles before hurriedly going back inside the bar.

Yuki continues her way home. She is still baffled how easily she got busted by a stranger. Arriving at her house, she went straight to her room and dropped the paper bag she was holding in her hands to her bed.

She couldn't bother looking at the bag a while ago as her attention was so focused on Shizuoka's statement, but right now, she is curious about what's inside the paper bag.

So, she opened it.

"What the fudge?!!!"

After that, she immediately contacted Shizuoka, who only giggled at her in response.

"There's no taking back, Yuki-chan." She playfully answered.
