I stood in the back corridor of Rod Laver Arena, my fingers nervously playing with the all-access pass hanging around my neck. The distant hum of final soundcheck vibrated through the floor beneath my sneakers, the bass pulsing like my heartbeat. Kyler was here. Just beyond those thick concrete walls, probably walking through lighting cues and mic levels like the perfectionist he is.

I was following him throughout the US locations, celebrated my birthday without him since he was in South Korea, but once he went further, schedules didn't match up.

But here I am now.

He had no idea I was even in Australia.

He thought I was back home, stuck in endless meetings, and I'd let him believe it

He thought I was back home, stuck in endless meetings, and I'd let him believe it. I hated lying, but this was different—this was for us. One whole year together. A year of early flights together, love notes on hotel pillows, FaceTime kisses, and dancing in the kitchen with our fur babies. I wasn't going to miss celebrating that. Not a chance.

I made sure to clear my entire first week of July. Kyler didn't know it yet, but we weren't just going to celebrate tonight—we were escaping to Hamilton Island after the show. He'd been running nonstop since the tour began, and I wanted to give him something he rarely had these days: peace.

ASSISTANT: A production assistant passed by, glancing at me with a little smirk before whispering. "He's in his dressing room. Door's cracked."

My stomach flipped.

His voice was faint through the door, tinged with the focus I've grown to admire.
