Jungkook was speechless— and even that word fell short. There was no vocabulary strong enough to capture the storm inside him. He looked at Yoongi... then at the other guards. Each one stood with their heads bowed low, unable to meet his gaze, unsure how to explain what had just unfolded.

At his feet…
lay William’s severed head.

And standing before him—drenched in blood, eyes unreadable—was Taehyung.

The sight was unreal. Not a scratch on him, yet crimson stained his clothes, his hands, even the corners of his mouth. Jungkook's heart clenched. He wasn't hurt, but the blood made his chest twist in panic all the same. He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself.

William wasn’t weak.
Entering his territory alone—killing him—meant taking a risk no sane man would. That wasn’t just rage. That was warfare.

The Taehyung before him, reckless and calm, looked terrifying. Terrifyingly capable.

Without a word, Jungkook grabbed Taehyung’s wrist and dragged him through the halls. Taehyung followed lazily, silently, like a cat humoring its master. He knew Jungkook was pissed. He could feel it in the tension radiating off him.

But he didn’t care.

The door to Jungkook’s chambers slammed shut behind them, echoing through the hall. Jungkook turned immediately, scanning Taehyung from head to toe. His eyes were frantic, searching for wounds—any sign that he’d been hurt.

There were none.

Meanwhile, Taehyung was simply watching his face. Studying every twitch, every flicker of emotion, with those sharp eyes.

Then—

“What was that?”

Oh. Damn.

He finally spoke.

And Taehyung… smiled. Like a kid who’d finally gotten attention after a long wait.

“Told you…” he said with a cheeky grin, “just tell me the names.”

That grin made Jungkook’s blood boil.

“Do you even understand what you’ve done? What happens if they find out? About .....you?”

There it was—the fear. Taehyung could hear it, feel it in Jungkook’s voice. But he wasn’t fazed.

“They won’t,” he replied calmly.
“None of them are alive to tell.”

Jungkook’s eyes widened.

No way.
Taehyung didn’t just kill William—he killed the guards too?

Jungkook exhaled sharply, dragging a hand through his tangled dark locks. His chest rose and fell in frustration. He stared at Taehyung like he couldn’t recognize him anymore.

Because maybe he didn’t.

“You don’t get it. Once they find the bodies, they’ll know it’s us. They’ll know we broke the code.”

Taehyung tilted his head, face darkening.

“So? You scared of them?” he snapped.
“Killing William was easy. And yet, you... you spared him. You hid. You lived in fear.”
His voice rose.
“Are you seriously the pureblood the entire vampire kingdom looks up to? Relies on?”
