Taehyung leaned in slowly, eyes half-lidded, lips barely a breath away from Jungkook’s. Jungkook’s breath hitched, and he instinctively closed his eyes, waiting—craving the kiss that was just about to land.
But nothing came.
When Jungkook opened his eyes again, he found Taehyung stepping away with a small, mischievous smirk curling at his lips.
The prince walked back to the bed and sat down on its edge, as if nothing had just happened.
Jungkook’s brows furrowed.
A spark of frustration flared in his chest. “Tease,” he muttered under his breath.
“You don’t deserve my kiss,” Taehyung finally said, gaze fixed straight ahead. “Heard you were planning to toss me onto the battlefield like one of your knights.”
Jungkook’s shoulders tensed.
So, he’d heard that.
“I didn’t mean what I said there,” Jungkook said, voice low and sincere. “I just… I just didn’t want you to go anywhere far from me.”
He stepped closer, looking somehow both desperate and determined.
“You know me, Tae. You know I’d never willingly put you in danger. I’d rather burn everything down than let a scratch touch you.”
Something in those words hit deep in Taehyung—somewhere raw and vulnerable. His chest tightened. That brutal honesty… it always undid him.
“Then why did you say it?” he asked, still not meeting Jungkook’s eyes.
“Because I was scared.”
Jungkook’s voice cracked slightly.
“Because I don’t know how to keep you close without chaining you to me.”
He took a final step forward until he stood directly in front of Taehyung, then gently tilted his chin up. Taehyung’s eyes met his—stormy and unreadable.
“Only I should be next to you,” Jungkook whispered, his voice laced with something possessive. “Not anyone else… not even your mother.”
Taehyung shivered. Jungkook’s eyes glowed faintly crimson, and that commanding tone sent heat surging through him.
“But… she’s my mother—”
Taehyung tried, but Jungkook pressed a finger gently over his lips.
“You should’ve thought of that,” Jungkook said, leaning in, breath ghosting over Taehyung’s cheek, “when you started seducing me... when you made me fall helplessly in love with you.”
Taehyung’s heart pounded. His breath was ragged now, pupils blown wide with desire. That voice… that closeness… the fire between them had finally reached its edge.
He grabbed Jungkook by the collar with both hands and pulled him in, crashing their lips together in a kiss that was anything but gentle.
It was deep.
It was desperate.
It was a surrender.
Jungkook responded instantly, hands slipping around Taehyung’s waist, pulling him impossibly close as their lips moved like they’d been waiting for this forever.
Jungkook broke the kiss, breathing heavily, a thin string of saliva still connecting their parted lips. Taehyung’s eyes glowed in that familiar violet hue, while Jungkook’s burned a deep crimson. The room itself felt electrified, charged with something raw and powerful.
