I felt like writing a short, fluffy chapter today 💕

Happy birthday to Uncle Rick, Grover, and Frank (05/06) (one day late)

When Rose woke up, she found a textbook sprawled beside her on her pillow. She sighed and closed it. She looked at the calendar.

Saturday. Her eyes brightened.

She jumped out of bed, had breakfast, brushed her teeth, and got dressed in less than half an hour. She rushed out the door, carrying only a handbag with the bare necessities.

"Where are you going?" John called after her from the kitchen.

"To Camp! I've got a date! I'll be back before dinner!"

"Alright! You got your bow?"

"Always!" Rose shouted.

"Be safe!"

"I will!"

Rose checked her watch as she ran towards the bus station. She jumped onto it a few seconds before its departure.

The ten-minute ride to Long Island seemed to take forever.

As she ran up the hill, she saw Connor at the top, standing next to Thalia's tree and Peleus the dragon. He looked so excited and skittish that, from far away, he looked blurry.

"Hey Connor!" she gasped, finally reaching the top.

"Hey, Rosie!"

She hugged him, but he only held her with one arm, the other holding something behind his back.

Connor pulled away and grinned crookedly at her.

"I got you something." Connor showed her a clay pot with a small bush of small, perfumed, red roses.

She gasped and her eyes widened with a bright, genuine smile.

"Connor, you shouldn't have! They're beautiful!"

"I figured you'd rather plant it than have a bouquet of flowers that would just... you know, die, so I got you the whole pot! Red roses are supposed to represent love, right?"

"Yeah," she said. Rose smiled and admired the flowers for a few seconds before her eyes turned stern.

"And, before you say anything, I paid for them," Connor said.

"Really? Where's the receipt?" Rose asked, placing her hands on her hips.

Holding the pot in one hand, Connor patted his pockets with the other.

"Ah, looks like I lost it," he said with a grin.

Rose shook her head before dropping the stern facade.

"If you wanted to steal a good present, you could've gone with chocolates too," she said with a smirk.

Connor's eyes brightened.

"Don't you have like an infinite supply of chocolate bunnies?" she added.

"Nah, we finished those. We barely had enough for one cabin roof," he said.

Rose took the pot from his hands. She smiled at the bright, lush flowers and began walking towards the Demeter Cabin, Connor by her side.

"Did you know that chocolate bunnies were initially created in Germany in the mid-19th century?" Connor said.

"I didn't," she said with a smile. "That's cool. But how did you know that?"

"I memorized a whole list of random facts, like a month ago, hoping to make small talk with you. Julia knocked me out at 1 a.m. because, apparently, I was being too loud."
