The New War

Hitoshi wasn't the only one surprised when the alarm went off in the middle of class. He could see the way Kanri was surprised as well. And it wasn't the regular tone. This was the special tone that UA had introduced a few weeks earlier.

To most of the student body, the tone meant they were to make their way to the shelters. To those who knew what it really meant, it was the signal to get ready to fight. Kanri knew he was included in that.

Aizawa, while maintaining that he was 100% not trained and not ready to fight Izuku or his father, had also insisted that he be included. The underground hero had pointed out that if brute force didn't work against All For One or Izuku then maybe subtlety would. His quirk was included in the definition of subtlety. And Hitoshi knew his quirk worked against Izuku.

So... he was included in the fight.

The easiest way to do that was to avoid getting crowded with the other students, so as his class evacuated, Hitoshi remained seated. Kanri covered for him. Then he remained in place while the corridor cleared of students. When the last stragglers were going past, Hitoshi got up and moved. It was far easier to run through the near empty corridors than it was to attempt to struggle, against the flow earlier and he was sure he made just as good time this way.

Aizawa was sure as well. They'd timed it. Theoretically of course.

When he saw the underground Hero, Hitoshi knew something was wrong. There was something in the way Aizawa was holding his lips and the slight furrowing of his brow.

"All Might has gone ahead," he announced.

Hitoshi couldn't help the frown that crossed his features. They were meant to go out together. That way, Aizawa could nullify All For One's quirk while All Might and Inasa fought him. Case in point, Inasa was at the gathering point too.

"We will have to back him up," Inasa said.

Aizawa didn't say anything, but Hitoshi could see that he was annoyed. "Are we ready?" the hero asked.

Inasa looked to be in his full costume. Hitoshi was missing most of his costume, save the bits he carried everywhere, his knife and his voice modulator. Those were the two pieces of kit that had been deemed essential for him at this stage. Once he was formally enrolled in the hero course, Aizawa had told him he should carry more small items but for now those two were the most important. Actually, Aizawa had said the voice modulator. Hitoshi was the one who was carrying the knife.

He nodded to reply to Aizawa and lifted his modulator into place. It looked kind of odd with his regular uniform, but it would do.

"We're support," Aizawa reminded Inasa. "You and All Might will take them in," the underground hero concluded, and you could tell he was not happy about that. Some people would wrongly say Eraser Head was unhappy about being support. Hitoshi knew better. Aizawa was unhappy that Inasa, a student who hadn't quite made it to the end of first year, was being used in a front-line situation. The teacher wasn't happy that Hitoshi was involved either but since he was in a support role, that was just slightly more acceptable.

Inasa nodded and as soon as Aizawa gave the signal to move out, the flying teen did, rushing ahead of them.

Hitoshi could understand. If All Might had gone ahead, then he might need back up. The other teachers were moving into place but the villains... Izuku and his father were known to be extremely dangerous.

The world knew that about Izuku's father, they were learning that about Izuku, but Hitoshi already knew his friend could be dangerous. He followed Aizawa as they moved out of UA. They didn't immediately head to the park where Izuku's father had been reported, and Hitoshi frowned to himself for a moment before he realised that they were heading for the city. He knew what Aizawa was planning. If they could get a good vantage point, then Aizawa could use his quirk to equalise the fight.
