"Sunshot Campaign? Ridiculous!"

Wen Ruohan flung his teacup at the wall, shattering it into pieces.

Wen Chao and Wen Xu flinched. They were nervous and tense, even around their own father.

Wen Ruohan was mildly irritated at the rebellious sects' insolence. But no matter, they would be destroyed just like all the others in the past.

Wen Chao had retreated from Lotus Pier and was worried about Wen Ruohan's reaction. "My apologies, Father. There were too many of them! We were caught by surprise! They launched a dishonorable sneak attack on us!"

Wen Ruohan glared at Wen Chao. "What were you thinking? Letting your army celebrate a false victory so soon? Letting your mistress speak for you? Are you that lazy? Are you that careless of how you present our sect? Now she's being held prisoner by the enemy and she's going to leak information to them!"

Wen Chao flinched. "I assure you, Father! I never revealed anything important to her!"

Wen Chao looked pleadingly at Wen Zhuliu.

Wen Zhuliu looked back at him impassively. He wasn't going to do anything to help Wen Chao look better in his father's eyes.

Turning to Wen Zhuliu, Wen Ruohan sighed. "You have no choice but to follow my son's orders, no matter how foolish they may be. But take care not to leave any security risks next time."

Wen Zhuliu bowed apologetically. He couldn't retrieve Wang Lingjiao because he was too busy protecting Wen Chao during the battle at Lotus Pier.

Wen Ruohan simply looked at Wen Chao with disappointment. Wen Chao averted his eyes in shame.

"How did they even know our sect would arrive in Lotus Pier?" Wen Ruohan asked.

Wen Xu's eyes narrowed. "I'll root out whatever spy is leaking our sect's plans to the enemy. I have a feeling I know exactly who the culprit is. Don't worry, Father. I'll take care of it."

If Wen Xu had even the slightest suspicion of someone, he would confront them without mercy.

Wen Ruohan nodded in approval. "It is possible that Lan Xichen decided to go to Lotus Pier first to gather his forces by his own accord. But we must expose any possible dissenters."

The other sects were getting too bold.

Wen Ruohan couldn't let their challenge go unanswered.

"Prepare your armies for battle."

"Yes, Father! We'll destroy all those who dare defy the QishanWen sect!" Wen Xu and Wen Chao vowed.

Wen Ruohan laughed. "If they want a war, they'll get one."

-------------------

Wen Xu struck Pan Wukun across the face.

Blood spewed from her mouth and she fell to the ground.

Wen Xu and his cultivators snickered. "Little spy can't handle a little punch."

Pan Wukun struggled to her knees. "Wen-gongzi. I swear loyalty to the QishanWen sect. I would never commit such a crime!"

Wen Xu smirked. "I know it wasn't you, Rice Bucket. You're useless without your spiritual power. But I wanted to have a little fun today."

Little did he know that it actually was Pan Wukun. But she had left those warning notes for the other sect leaders when she departed from her studies at the Cloud Recesses. Way before Wen Xu kidnapped her and made her a Wen servant.

"Father is displeased about what happened in Lotus Pier. Wen Chao retreated from the battle."

Wen Xu told Pan Wukun the news that the YunmengJiang sect had successfully driven the QishanWen sect out with the help of Lan Xichen's reinforcements.
