Daughter of Hades
Chapter 11 -Bleed Out the Weak-
[Sarah's POV]
-
I placed the notebook back under the pillow without reading another word. I shouldn't have invaded her privacy like that, it was like if someone had gone through my sketchbook...Nico...

I had to find Nico before I thought anymore about Thalia and dug myself into an even deeper hole of false hope.

I opened a supply closet-nope. The freshman hallway-nothing. The English classroom-nada. Then I looked into the history classroom from the window in the door and saw him. He was talking to someone, someone who was see-through. Someone I sensed was dead. Nico was talking to a ghost.

"Just tell him, okay? I don't care how he'll react! You are already dead, he can't take much else from you!" Nico yelled at the ghost.

"Have you forgotten about the Fields of Punishment, my lord?" The ghost responded in a raspy voice.

"No." Nico said coldly. "Just tell Hades to get his ass up here and talk to his daughter!"

I stared. He was trying to get our father to come and talk to me. The last time I'd asked if I could talk to Hades he'd gotten angry and said he wouldn't help me. Now he was trying to summon him via his ghost friend.

The ghost bowed. "I will relay the information to him." Then he disappeared without a trace. Nico turned to leave and I scrambled away from the door. I stood on the opposite wall and crossed my arms over my chest.

Nico opened the door and jumped a little. "S-Sarah, I didn't see you there."

I smiled. "Thank you." I said simply. Telling him in two words I'd seen what he was trying to do and was grateful. Nico nodded and I pushed off the wall. We started making our way back to the dorms. "Now you need to go to the dance."

"I don't want to go." Nico said angrily. "I have no desire to sit alone in the corner and watch Percy and Annabeth make out."

"Will was worried." I blurted out. "He said he wanted to ask you something."

Nico stopped walking. "What?"

"I think you should go and talk to him." I said flatly.

Nico sighed. "Fine."

I smiled and we started walking back to the gym.

[3rd Person POV]

Thalia smiled as Percy and Annabeth took to the dance floor. She sat down at one of the tables and scanned to room for Sarah assuming they could talk while everyone else danced. She didn't find her. Instead her eyes met Leo's and he smiled, running over.

"Crap." Thalia muttered. She didn't want Leo pestering her. Not now.

"Hey, Stormy!" Leo announced and plopped down next to Thalia with a plate full of chips, baby carrots, salsa and ranch dressing. "Sarah told me to tell you she went out to look for Nico."

Oh. Thalia was really looking forward to her company. Sarah was an incredible and complicated person. She appeared to be un-approachable but when approached she had so much personality. Thalia sensed layer after layer of secrets and lies and all Thalia wanted to do was dig until she reached the core. Thalia wasn't sure why Sarah hid herself so much, she suspected Sarah had decided that only those willing to breach her hard exterior were worthy of the softer interior.

Leo picked up a carrot and dipped it into the salsa, the dipped a chip in the ranch and ate them at the same time.

"You know, the ranch is made for vegetables, like those poor carrots you are cruelly abusing, and the salsa is made for the chips." Thalia informed him. "It's wrong to dip them in the wrong things."
