Two months had passed since peace had returned to Mewar.
The days were golden and calm, the nights scented with jasmine but in every whisper of wind across the ramparts, Rudradev heard the coming storm. Rumors spread from the north, the Sultan of Delhi had set his eyes upon Rajputana. His armies; vast, relentless, armed with cannons and greed, had crossed the Yamuna.
And now, the desert itself trembled.
The great council convened at dawn. Generals, ministers, and advisors crowded the royal court, its marble walls reflecting anxious faces.
Maps were strewn across the central table, marked with red ink, each circle a threat, each arrow a wound waiting to open.
At the head stood Rana Rudradev, his armor gleaming faintly beneath the torchlight. Beside him, poised and unflinching, was Rani Aaryavika.
She no longer sat in silence. Her place was not beside his throne now but beside his counsel.
"Sultan ki sena haathiyon aur topon ke saath aage badh rahi hain. Unke senapati gheraabandi ke pakshadhar hain, ve hamse ladhne se pehle hame bhookha maar denge." Rudradev spoke.
The Sultan's armies march with elephants and cannons. His generals favor siege, they will starve us before they fight us.
"Phir hum unhe gheraabandi ke liye koi kila nahi denge. Unhe baahar kheenchein, unhe vishwaas dilaye ki hum peechhe hatt rahe hain, aur jab veh titar-bitar ho jaye tab hamala karein." Aaryavika said, studying the map.
Then we will not give them a fortress to siege. Draw them out, make them believe we retreat, and strike when they scatter.
The court fell silent. The generals exchanged uncertain glances.
"Maanpurvak, Ranisa, Mewar ki sena chhal-kapat ke liye taiyaar nahi hain." The commanding general said.
With respect, Ranisa, Mewar's armies are not trained for deceit.
"Toh unhe seekhana hoga. Sammaan bahaduri se marne mein nahin, apni bhoomi ki raksha ke liye jivit rehne mein hai." Aaryavika firmly said.
Then they must learn. Honor does not lie in dying bravely, it lies in living to protect your land.
Rudradev looked at her then, not as his queen, but as his equal. There was steel in her tone, fire in her logic, and he felt again that same fierce pride that had taken root two months ago.
"Ghudsavaar sena ko raatri kooch ke liye taiyaar karein. Teesre suryoday tak hum kumbhalagadh mein sultan ki sena se milenge." Rudradev commanded.
Prepare the cavalry for a night march. We meet the Sultan's forces at Kumbhalgarh by the third sunrise.
