~ Sneak-peak ~
The evening sun dipped low over Mumbai's skyline, its golden light spilling through the glass windows of the Malhotra Residence, the home that Kabir and Kiara Malhotra had built together over five beautiful, unpredictable, love-filled years of marriage.
The sound of soft giggles filled the air, followed by Kiara's voice, warm and playful.
"Aayra, baby, slow down! Gir jaoge warna!"
You'll fall otherwise!
Her one-year-old daughter barely listened, crawling at full speed toward her favorite toy, a stuffed panda nearly her size. Her tiny laughter echoed off the marble floors, pure and contagious.
Kabir leaned against the kitchen counter, watching the two loves of his life from a distance, a soft smile tugging at his lips. He had just returned from a board meeting, tie loosened, sleeves rolled up, his usually sharp demeanor softened by the sight before him.
Five years ago, he had married the most vibrant woman he'd ever met and in that time, they'd built not just a home, but a life rich with laughter, late-night confessions, and the occasional burnt dinner experiment.
"Papa!" Aayra squealed as soon as she spotted him.
"Come here, meri jaan!" Kabir crouched down immediately, opening his arms.
My life.
The little girl squealed and crawled faster, her chubby legs kicking with excitement. When she reached him, she launched herself into his arms, babbling something incoherent but full of affection.
Kiara, standing a few steps away, smiled at the sight, her husband cradling their daughter like she was made of the most fragile glass, pressing soft kisses on her forehead.
"She missed you," Kiara said, crossing her arms with mock annoyance.
"Tumhe pata hai aaj dopehar ko soi bhi nahi woh. Bas darwaze ko dekhti rahi.
She refused to nap. She just kept looking at the door.
"Aur tumhara kya? Tumne miss kiya mujhe?" Kabir looked at his wife and smirked.
And what about you? Did you miss me?
"Shayad thoda sa." Kiara rolled her eyes, though the faint blush on her cheeks gave her away.
Maybe a little.
