“Angel, wake up…” Jacob said.
I opened my eyes and stared out the window. We were in New York! It looked so different from Kentucky…
“Let's go to Broadway!” I clapped my hands together.
“First, apartment shopping. Then job finding. We'll see if we can do anything else…” he smiled.
“Wow, you have everything planned…” I smiled.
We went to the nearest and cheapest apartments. Jacob bought the one – bedroom like there was no tomorrow.
We went inside and Jacob closed to door.
It seems like a good deal… I thought.
“You hungry?” I asked Jacob and tied my short hair up in a ponytail.
“Yeah, go make me a SANDWICH!” he collapsed onto the floor.
“Go to McDonald then, because we don't have food here,” I rolled my eyes.
“Whatever you say, cupcake…” he said.
“You really are hungry; you're calling me a food.” I went to the dining room to check it out.
“No! When I said ‘cupcake’, I meant it by the couple nicknames people use.”
“Weird people do that…” I blushed.
“You like the name, don't you?”
“No,” I got redder.
He smiled.
“Let's go to McDonalds and make some new friends.”
“Why?”
“It will really benefit us in the future.”
“It better…” I mumbled.
Jacob got up and stared down at me. He was maybe a couple inches taller than me. He put his arm over my shoulder and opened the door. We went to McDonalds walking.
Jacob made a lot of friends before the food even touched our table. A lot of girls flirted with him and guys became friends with him. He seemed to talk to one woman a lot. She was serious as she chatted with him.
I was almost finished with my sandwich when he came with the woman.
“Angel,” he told me, “Here is Juliet. She would like to show you around.”
“Me?” I asked.
“Yeah,” she smiled and shook my hand.
I stared at her. She looked to be in her early twenties. Her wavy blond hair went down to her waist. She looked and seemed perfect.
“Hi, Juliet…” I give her a wry smile.
“Let's go,” she hauled me out McDonald and into her car. She drove away.
I wonder why Jacob trusted her so quickly, he just met her… I thought.
“You are probably wondering why your boyfriend trusted me so quickly, right?”
I blushed. “Is it obvious?”
“I would have thought that too. Since I'm a police officer, he told me to be your friend, because I can keep you safe,” she said.
“He asked you?”
She shook her head. “I started to talk to him and I wanted to talk to you. He hesitated until I showed him my badge and said he could trust me. Actually, I swore. He acts like a cool guy.”
“He is…” I sighed happily.
“Is it true you moved from Pennsylvania?” she asked.
“Yeah.”
“Why?”
“I always liked Broadway…he surprised me a couple months ago when he said we're going to live in New York.”
“Why aren't you guys married?”
“We're not ready…”
“Not to be rude, but you're living together…you should get married…”
I shrugged.
“Let's not worry about this right now, because we're going to shop!” she smiled her perfect smile.
I nodded.
She parked in front of a clothing store.
