This can’t be happening! I thought.

My brother was right next to me!

“You look like someone I know…” he told me. A chill shot down my spine and I shivered.

“Who?” I looked at him.

“My younger sister…” he said quietly.

“What happened to her?” I asked and stared at my breath in the frosty air, trying to calm down my fast – beating heart.

“She ran away…” he looked at me.

I looked down and shivered. The way he looked at me…it seemed like he knew that I was Dessie and not a random girl named Angel…

“Where do you live?” I changed the subject, “I haven’t seen you around…are you new to the city?”

“I don’t live around here…”

“You don’t?” I acted surprised.

“I live in Kentucky…”

“What is a Kentucky guy like you doing in New York in the winter season?” I asked.

“My great grandmother is dying…also, I have a feeling Dessie’s somewhere in New York.”

“Her name is Dessie?”

“Yeah…”

“Hey what hospital is your great grandmother in?”

He looked at me with hesitation, I smiled innocently. He flushed then told me, I wrote it down.

“Should I give you my phone number too?” he asked.

Was he flirting with me?

“Sure,” I smile.

He told me his phone number.

“I’m here for the rest of the month, so we should hang out sometime…” he hesitated, “Let’s say, tomorrow?”

I almost gagged.

He was being a flirt! He even asked me out!

Blake never asked a girl out he was never interested, but now the girl he happens to like is his sister. That is creepy…

“As friends?” I asked.

“Yes, of course!” he blushed, “As FRIENDS!”

“I’ll call when, because here’s my place!” I stopped him in front of Juliet’s house.

We walked to the doorsteps and I rang the doorbell. Juliet opened the door.

She stared at Blake in shock. I coughed.

“Hi, Juliet, here is…Blake, he helped me with the groceries; the eggs may be broken…” I say nervously.

“Hi…” Blake waved to Juliet.

Peaches and Jacob popped their heads from behind Juliet. “I was going to make an…omelet…” he stared at Blake. ‘Uh – Oh…’ was scribbled all over his face.

“I tripped and fell,” I mumbled. I turned to Blake, “Thanks for your help, I really appreciated it…”

“Okay…” he gives me one of the bags and ‘accidently’ brushes my hand with his as I grabbed it. He gave the other to Juliet who then gave it to Jacob.

“Yeah, she really appreciates it…” Jacob mocked my voice.

“Don’t mock me!” I stuck my tongue out at him.

He laughed.

“Well, see you, Angel…” Blake said.

“Bye,” I smile and walk inside and closed the door.

I collapsed on to the floor my heart beating hard.

“What is he doing in New York?!” Jacob stared at me.

“My great grandmother is dying…” I whispered. I wanted to cry so badly…

“What is happening?” Peaches asked, “I just saw a HOT guy out there…”

“When is he leaving?” Juliet ignored Peaches’ comment.

“He said he was going to stay for about a month…” I responded quietly. I couldn’t get my mind off of my dying great grandmother…she was my role model…

“Don’t talk to him, look at him, and don’t cough, sneeze, or fart near him until he leaves.”

I blinked.

“Don’t risk it Dessie,” Jacob said, “I can tell you want to see your great grandmother…”

“She’s dying! I have to see her!” I started to tear up.

“I know, but she’ll tell everyone that she saw you. Then you’ll be found, or is that what you want; to go back home, because a couple weeks ago, you begged me not to make you go back home,” Juliet said.

“My great grandmother, Oh Great One, was the most stubborn woman and the best female role model ever! I want to see her for the last time and tell her that I’ll always remember her!” I yelled.

“No! You begged me not to tell Lucy! Now you want to risk it?!” she screamed back.

“You don’t understand!” I screamed.

“No! YOU DON’T UNDERSTAND!”

“Argh!” I stomped to my room.

I slammed the door. I screamed into my pillow and pounded it.

Now she’s going to die waiting for me…
