Jacob went inside the visiting room. He stared at his mom in the orange jumpsuit. He couldn’t help but smile as he noticed the glass in between him and his mom.
“I told you…” he laughed.
She glared at him.
“You deserve this,” Jacob growled.
“I’m in here because I had drugs, not because I hit your sorry butt…” she mumbled.
“Why did you have videos of you abusing me?”
“I don’t have to answer you…” she growled.
“You’re crazy, why would you abuse me in the first place?”
A click was heard from behind Jacob. He turned around and saw a man in and army uniform marching up to him. The man looked like him. The man was taller than him.
“JACOB!!” Jacob’s mom screamed.
Jacob twirled around and stared at his mom.
“What?”
“You came back! My husband, Jacob!” she started to cry.
“I’m Jacob –” he stopped talking as a light bulb turned on in his head. “I’m Jacob Jr.?”
He turned back to the man.
“You’re my d – dad?”
The man nodded.
“You came back to bail me out, right?” Jacob Jr.’s mom screamed at his dad.
“No, I came here to talk to my son...” the man responded. He turned to Jacob and said, “You made it, you’re in the army…”
“What?” Jacob was confused, “I never signed up…”
“My old friend told me you were going to need to go the Army…so I recommended you and they accepted. All you have to do is sign a couple of papers and you’ll be off in a week…”
“Honey, bail me out! I won’t survive here!”
“Jacob survived your abuse without me so you can survive here.”
“Actually, a friend helped me…”
“I know her; she’s your special one, isn’t she?”
“Yup!”
“Hey, let’s go get a bite and you can tell me more about your special Dessie…”
“Wait, but I need to ask you some questions…”
“Hit me.”
“Why did you leave my mom?”
“I never left her, we’re still married.”
“What?”
“I joined the army to be away from her, because she slept with my best friend…”
“No! I didn’t! He got me really drunk and I didn’t know!” Jacob’s mom screamed, “All I remember was that he was flirting with me and then I woke up on a bed with him next to me!”
“Who was it?”
“Dessie’s step – uncle…”
Jacob was speechless.
“He’s an evil man!” Jacob’s mom screamed.
“Dessie’s UNCLE slept with my mom?!” Jacob yelled. “The puzzle pieces are coming together…that’s why his wife left him…”
“No!” Jacob’s mom pounded the glass. Guards went over to her and took her away.
“I’m going to kill you two! I will watch you die! YOU WILL DIE!”
Jacob stomped out the room.
“Jacob!” his dad called out to him.
“What?” Jacob growled.
“You should tell Dessie that you’re joining the Army…” his dad asked.
“Uh…”
“You’re leaving in a week from now…”
“I don’t think she’ll forgive me…” Jacob sighed.
“Let’s talk about this problem at McDonald.” His dad winked at him and he laughed.
“Sorry, but I’m taken, but we can have lunch as friends,” Jacob laughed.
“You and your thoughts…”
Jacob laughed even more as they walked out the visiting room.
