When time froze

chapter 34

 "give this to her" she said while handing the necklace to Ashton. the house was in flames as she jumped through the window. he came over to me and handed me the necklace then said "I have to go" and he was gone. I could imagine the burning of there flesh as they fight off the other ones and how them and that house turns to ash as my eyes fill with tears. it was the end of them.

I woke up on a bed after I had the nightmare rewind in my head from yesterday. I was in a house as I heard talking come from the living room. I jumped up from my bed and walked straight to the living room and over to the front door. "hey" Kat said as I started to open the door. "where are you going?" Carl asked as he sat on the couch. by this time I was already out of the door. they got up and started to follow me out the front the door. "Aria where are you going?" Ethan asked. I walked down the street, looking for the house that Leslie and Ashton went into yesterday. "hey? where are you going?" Kat asked.

I ignored them and kept looking for it. about 15 minutes later, I found it and it was mostly ash as white smoke came from it. there was still little flames coming from it as the other houses next to it was also on flames. I walked over to the Ash, bent down and grabbed the locket from around my neck. I opened it up then started to put ash's in it. "Aria what are you doing?" Ethan asked.

"I am putting Leslie and Astons ash's in this necklace" I answered, still putting ash's into the necklace.

"dude, that is mostly the house ash, or the guys ash's. there is no way that is only Leslie and Astons ash's" Kat said.

"some of this is Leslie's ash and I know it" I said.

"we are wasting our time by you doing this. there is like a 20% chance that that is just Leslie's or just Astons ash" Kat said.

"but this could be Leslie's! I am not leaving until I have something to remember them by!" I yelled as tears filled my eyes.

Kat was going to say something until Carl cut her off by saying "Kat. she has been through a lot. just let her do this alright."

she just sighed then said nothing and they watched me pick up ash and put it in the necklace. after I was done doing the, I closed the locket and put it back around my neck then stood up and walked back over to them. "we should get going" I said, wiping away tears.

Kat nodded then said "ok. lets go."

we started to walk to a close by car and got inside. Kat and Ethan got in the front as me and Carl got into the back. we started driving and I stared out the window. we drove for a while till we stopped at a gas station to get some more gas. we pulled over to the side of the road this time, just in case, and all of us got out. Carl and I hung out by the car as Kat and Ethan went inside. "how are you doing?" he asked me.     

"I am alright" I answered.

"you sure?" he asked.

" no. not really" I answered as tears started to fill my eyes again.

"I am sorry" he said in a teary voice.

"what are you sorry about?" I asked as I wiped away tears.

"it was my fault that Leslie and Ashton died" he said.

"how is that?" I asked.

"because if I was more careful I wouldn't have gotten caught and they didn't have to fight the men off. and not just that but Paige's death was my fault and Havana and Scotts death was also my fault" he said, starting to tear up.

"why do you think that?" I asked. 

"because before the car came at us, Havana and Scott were going to get gas but I said they shouldn't and that they should check the front of the RV instead" he started saying as he started crying. "then with Paige, I had the chance to shoot Jake before he shot at Paige but I hesitated and he got her and if I just checked them for weapons--" he started bursting into tears so I pulled him into a hug and I kept saying "its ok. none of this is your fault. its ok."

we stayed like that for 20 more minutes until Kat came around the car and said "we got some gas. lets go. what's wrong with him?" she asked. we pulled out of the hug and he started to wipe away tears as I said "nothing. lets go."

she nodded the we piled back into the car. once we sat down, Carl looked at the floor so I reached over him and put my arm around him as he said nothing. "its ok" I said, trying to make him happy. he said nothing and we started driving again. we drove for a while as we just talked but Carl kept silent. "have any food in here?" I asked.

"oh yeah. I stole some food from the gas station" Kat answered. "its in the back." I checked in the back and saw a bag of chips. I opened them and started to eat some. we drove for 2 hours and we were all tired of being in the car. "are we there yet?" I asked.

"I think so" she said. we drove till we met a small town. "lets stop here for a little bit" Ethan said.

we agreed then got out at a house. we walked up to it and slowly opened the door. we checked the living room to make sure there wasn't any people here. we walked inside and looked around. we went into the other rooms and we saw that no one was here, we sat on the couch and just tried to find our rooms. it was a 2 bed room house so me and Carl shared a room and Kat and Ethan also shared a room. I walked into the room and laid on the bed. It was comfortable as Carl laid next to me. we looked up at the ceiling for a little and then he said "well I am getting kind of tired."

"yeah same" I said. Carl went to the door and way and yelled "we are going to bed!"

"ok! we are to!" Kat and Ethan yelled back.

he came back over to the door then we both checked the closest. it was a kids room so I saw nothing to wear to go to sleep in, so I decided to go in my normal cloths. Carl and I laid on the bed and fell asleep.

I woke up to sun shine again. I slowly lifted myself up. I sat up and turned to look over at Carl. the bed was empty. I stood up quickly and ran around the house trying to look for Carl. I saw him no where. I ran over to Kat and Ethan's room and flung the door opened, making them wake up and look at me. "what" Kat groaned out.

"Carl isn't here!" I quickly blurted out.

the both jumped up and Ethan said "what!"

"I cant find him" I said then ran down the hallway and into the living room as they followed.

we ran out side and we couldn't find him. we checked down the street but he was no where. Carl was gone.
