The Beginning of The End.
Blood. All her blurry vision gets to pick is the red color spread across the chessboard ground.
Her blood.
Vidur did not return with her after the incident with Aswini, enraged he took a totally different path. She felt relieved. But then she dared to step inside the palace. She knew what could be waiting for her and she expected the worse. She just didn't know the range it could escalate to.
By the time she reached the palace her mother's heart wrenching scream reached everyone else's ears. Even the guards posted around the palace failed to keep their composure intact. Her eyes fell on a particular guard: Tashi. His expression gave it all away, he was horrified, not for the screams of her mother but for her. Her heart skipped a beat the moment another painful scream echoed through the palace.
Her eyes determined. She ran, ran to do something, to stop the monster that ruined.... destroyed her mother's life, her life.
He was beating her mercilessly. Like the coward he had always been, he directed his rage for her towards her innocent mother.
The Mahipal sat on the huge royal couch. His eyes cruel and pleased. His nasty eyes landed on her and she couldn't help the glare that instinctively fixed on him.
She rushed to her mother's rescue when the Maharaja snapped his head towards her and she flinched because he truly looked like the inhuman he was.
"You bitch!" He gritted.
"I should have killed you the very day this scum birthed you." He spat at her. The rage within her grew as she strode towards her mother but before she could move any further, her mother was held against the wall by her throat, her legs hanging in the air. Her husband, the Maharaja, had his fingers coiled around her neck, cutting her air supply.
"Maa....!" The scream involuntarily came out of her mouth before she burst into tears shouting,
"Stop it! Stooop! She'll die." But it took her just a second to understand that he is truly killing her. He wants her dead. He is not merely trying to scare her. Her mother's eyes started rolling back as she kept trembling like hell. Her mouth agape, striving to breathe.
"Babamoshai...." Her voice became smaller, a sob broke through her throat, pleading. Pleading for her mother's life. Her lips trembled, shoulder slouched.
"Please. Let her live. Please. She has done nothing. Don't punish her for my actions." She sobbed. A sinister smile spread across the Mahipal and Maharaja's face.
"I'll take my punishment, without uttering a word. Please. Please leave her." She said hanging her head in defeat. A thudding sound echoed through the room making her look ahead, her mother's body lying limp on the floor, barely breathing. Unfortunately alive.
Before she could move towards her exhausted figure the Mahipal's voice pierced through her mind.
"She asked for it. Teach her the lesson she needs. Scars won't matter to Vidur unless they are ruining her face." With that said the man left and the first whipcracking reverberated through the huge hall followed by her first whimper. And then she heard it, the sword being pulled out of its sheath.

Three pair of legs rush through the dense wood. The world around them turning to nothing. One moving too ahead, too fast, because his world is crumbling around him, shattering and breaking into pieces. His glasses become foggy due to the hot breath leaving through his mouth. The more he runs the more his mind goes back to those old, stress free, easy days. When everything was right, everything was safe. The woods, her laughter, her sassy comments, her dimples, her long hair, her everything.
