Connecting The Dots.
"Yes I've reached and am leaving for Confianza in about ten minutes. How far are you?" Pihu asks, holding her cellphone to her ear by the help of her shoulder, her hands remain occupied with her laptop, her sling bag and her car key.
"I'll be there in fifteen minutes didi. I'll wait outside then?" Vivek asks.
"No. Not outside office, wait inside the cafe near the Ashoka Tower. What was it's..?" She tries hard to remember.
"The Butter Knife Cafe?" Vivek suggests.
"Yes.. that's the one. I'll be there soon." She responds. Brinda looks at her and shakes her head disapprovingly.
"Didi, you could've joined tomorrow you know? You worry too much." Brinda utters feeding her a few pieces of fruits.
"Yes. I agree. You're pushing yourself too much Pihu." Teressa suggests coming out of the washroom, her damp curls wetting her tshirt.
Pihu's tiny apartment suddenly feels like home. Filled with so many people who are ready to adjust but still stay beside her for her safety. The gratefulness she feel is inexplicable.
"I promise I'll be back before you blink. Just a few files and a small discussion. That's it, okay?" She asks and Teressa says a reluctant "Fine."
Pihu hurries inside and finds Nilu and Bruno running around her tiny balcony. Playing with their red ball and a box of crayons. Her heart warms up for reasons unknown.
"Hey Nilu baby.." She calls and both Nilu and Bruno rush to her. She bends a little placing a soft kiss on Nilu's forehead and another one on Bruno's, who is now in her arms.
"See you soon then. Don't forget to study a little." She says finally walking towards the exit.

It has been days since he last saw her. Resultantly, his entire body reacts when his nostrils inhale the same earthy refreshing fragrance, even after so long. His head whips up meeting the the obsidian eyes he craved to see for so many days.
The meeting room goes silent due to him standing up and leaving his chair abruptly. Within some four strides he was already infront of her but her eyes were fixed somewhere else.
Usually the head of the table is occupied by Dashis but today an aged, sharp eyed man looks straight back at her from that seat. His salt and pepper hair, his thick eyebrows, his expensive clothing scream his position. Dashis's father, Rakshit Sharma.
She has heard about him many a times but this certainly is the first day she's seeing him from the very front. But why doesn't it feel like that? Why does it feel like she knows him, closely and perhaps saw him before. Pihu swallows the growing unease within her. Her eyebrows furrow without her knowledge, a weird defiance in them.
Dashis notices her expression, his eyebrows furrow in confusion.
"Pihu." He whispers but her eyes remain fixed at his father. Now the entire room notices and looks between themselves. Seeing the situation Dashis walks closer and places a hand on her upper arm.
"Pihu." He utters, a little firmer this time and she jolts back to senses. Her eyes land on the other members sitting around the meeting table, embarrassment takes over her features.
"I apologize, I was zoned out." She utters walking inside.
"You scared me for a second." Dashis whispers.
"Why? What did I do?" She asks carefully.
"Not anything serious but you were looking at my father in a way as if you two had some old history and by history I don't mean the good kind." Dashis chuckles. She clenches her eyes shut in shame.
