Not exactly sure how it happened, but Liam had been over every night for weeks and each night Alex was sure she'd tell him, but each night she chickened out. She hadn't realized how lonely she really was until Liam started to come around and spend time with her. He always told her the most fascinating stories and she craved the attention. She needed a friend and she was sure if she told Liam she was infact a girl, he'd distance himself and leave her alone. She only wanted a friend.
Tonight Liam was telling her of one of his adventures as a boy. She was hooked on every word. He could have told her the sky was green and she would have believed him. He moved on to tell her about yet another one of his many misfortunate dates. Everytime he had her laughing so hard she cried, but deep down it was slowly shattering her already bruised heart. She didn't know why it hurt so much everytime he told her, but the comedy of it all over powered her pain.
"I'm serious I didn't know she was married! She lied! It'd not my fault her husband came home and I had to run out the back door with nothing on! Hell her neighbors got a show!" Liam said laughing wickedly.
"No way! Seriously! Completely naked?" Alex asked shaking withg mirth.
"Yes completely naked! I am lucky I left my wallet in the car! No way in hell was I going back in that house! He probably had a shot gun!" Liam laughed.
"Dang Liam. Your crazy! You sure know how to pick 'em don't you? Last night was the crazy waitress and tonight a married woman." Alex said chuckling clapping chubby hands together.
Not my fault. I didn't know. Can you imagine if he would have shot me? My gravestone would be comical as hell." Liam belted loudly.
"How so?" Alex asked with a browl raised.
"Liam McGregory Beloved Son! He was born naked and died naked." Liam laughed uncontrollably.
"Omg seriously Liam!" Alex laughed clutching her stomach.
"When was the last time you dated anyone Alex?" Liam asked sobering up quickly.
"I'm fine really. I don't need to date anyone. I'm happy with how things are." Alex said not making eye contact.
"How long ago was it Alex or have you ever even go on a date before?" Liam asked.
"Seriously Liam that is none of your business, but I have dated before."Alex defended.
"Have you really? How long ago?" Liam asked.
"I was once engaged before smart ass." Alex said in the heat of the moment and the moment she said it she wished she hadn't. It brought back unwanted memories.
"Really. Wow. So what happened? Damn, did she cheat on you?" Liam looked at Alex sympathetically.
"Ye... We just didn't work out..." Alex said uncomfortably. Wringing her chubby little hands that became moist with sweat a the current topic.
"What do you mean? How come?" Liam asked.
"It just didn't! Let it go! It's none of your business!" Alex snapped. Not knowing how much more she could take of this subject.
"Sorry dude. I just thought with us being friends and me telling you all about me, you'd actually tell me something about yourself. You seem really closed off. I was kinda glad you were telling me about yourself is all." Liam said calmly.
"Sorry, It's a sore subject and I did tell you that I don't exactly get along with my family. Your my only friend and I don't want to talk about my past, not yet. Okay." Alex said emotionally detached.
Liam sat down and draped his arm across Alex's shoulder in a comforting manner.
"It's okay. I'm only next door if you need to talk." Liam stated. Eating another slice of pizza. Alex and Liam both loved pizza made the same way. That thought brought a smile to Alex's face. Liam never commented on Alex's weight knowing it was a sore subject.
