Liam was still dying to know what Chris said to Alex. Had had immediately brushed past Liam and said he was going to take a shower. Ever since that night a couple weeks back Alex wasn't as openly joyful as he once was. Liam wasn't sure if it was because Alex was lonely or because the messages got to him, what he did know was tonight he planned Alex a date for Friday. One that Alex would enjoy. One with another man. Liam held his grin in when he knocked on Alex's door.
"Alex! Alex! Alex! I got pizza and my hands are full open the door!" Liam yelled through the door. He knew Alex was inside.
"Oh, Hey Liam. What are you doing outside my door?" Alex asked. She was wearing her usual sweats, but again her hair was wind blown and she was covered in sweat.
"Oh, You wanna open the door?" Liam said impatiently. The pizza was hot and it was burning his calloused fingers.
"Oh, Sorry. Yeah sure." Alex said shuffling in front of Liam to unlock the door.
"Thanks. Sorry about being rude, but dude those were hot. You've been exercising more and more lately. Good job! How much have you lost so far?" Liam asked excited.
"I don't really know. I haven't been weighed since the start several weeks ago when you had me get on that damn scale." Alex said playfully angry. She even kept smiling knowing she'd lost alot of weight.
"Come on let's go." Liam grabbed Alex's hand and drug him to his apartment next door to the bathroom where Liam kept his digital scale.
"Okay! Your starting weight was 326lbs. You now weight. 258lbs! Dude you lost 68lbs! I told you, if you work hard enough the weight will drop off. Plus the more you weigh the more you lose when you actually exercise. As long as you keep it up. You'll be a healthy weight in no time!" Liam said so energetically! He was practically bouncing on his heels.
"Wow...." Alex was speechless she'd never thought she could lose weight with exercise alone, but Liam made her want to be a better person. Made her want to be healthy. Liam was her hero. Liam was the only man she had ever truly been in love with.
"Come on let's eat I'm starving!" Liam said leaving the bathroom with Alex following him to Alex's apartment. Liam shut and locked his door. He still held a pep to his step. Liam was truly happy for Alex. The only thing Liam couldn't shake was Alex was getting more and more cuter.
"Okay! What do you want to watch Liam?" Alex said with her bright chocolate brown eyes looking at him. They were shining with something that he couldn't figure out. All he knew was Alex's eyes were the most breath taking thing he'd ever seen. Liam quickly lowered his eyes to the television before answering.
"Um. The usual works." Liam said sitting down on the couch popping open a beer.
"I'm going to go hop in the shower. I'll be out in a bit. Go ahead and start without me." Alex said walking into her bedroom. She shut the door behind herself. She walked over to her dresser and pulled out some clean clothes. She headed to her bathroom. When she walked in the bathroom she removed her clothes and threw them into her hamper. She had placed her clothes on the sink.
Alex turned the shower on high, hot. She needed to relax her aching muscles. Her mind kept wandering to Liam and how handsome he was. How she'd love to have him for supper and not that pizza. She was getting herself all worked up, but now was not the time to get worked up. She needed to hurry her shower alone and join Liam. He's been so busy lately she wanted to spend sometime with him.
She finished her shower and dried herself off, she applied her favorite peach lotion and dressed herself in her lavender sweats. She brushed her unruly hair and left the bathroom. She felt and looked refreshed. Yet at the same time. She had an uneasy feeling in the pit of her stomach. Something felt off.
When she walked out of her bedroom she saw Liam sitting on her couch. She walked over and joined him. She grabbed a slice of pizza and moaned at the taste of it. It was delicious. The flavors all melting in her mouth. She turned to look at Liam and he looked troubled. She set the pizza down. Liam hadn't even noticed she joined him in the room. He appeared to be lost in his thoughts.
"Liam. Liam. Hello...." Alex said while shaking Liam's shoulder. Liam just about jumped out of his skin when he came out of his trance like state.
"Yeah. I'm good. I got some good news for you though!" Liam said. He had a glint in his eyes which meant he did something he shouldn't have.
"What did you do Liam? Don't play games!" Alex said growling at him impatiently.
"I set you up on a date with a friend of mine from work. He's great. His name is Charles and he is smart. He loves animals. He always doesn't mind dating a man with a little extra weight." Liam said excited.
"Are you serious Liam?" Alex said defeated. She was a disaster. He'd seen it himself and now he was setting her up with a man, a gay man at that. First a woman and now a man.
"Yeah. You'll like him. He can't wait." Liam said still just as excited.
"Why would you set me up with a man Liam!?" Alex yelled outraged. He still thought she was gay. For god sakes she said she wasn't. What changed his mind now.
"Well. I set you up with him since I know your gay. I get it. You were afraid I wouldn't be your friend no more, since your not my brother, but no matter what I'm your friend. I wont ditch you because you like men Alex." Liam stated with his arms crossed looking like a greek god.
"Why do you still think I am gay?" Alex asked with wide pleading eyes. Liam held out Alex's cell phone. Alex was confused.
"I'm not dumb Alex; I seen some of your messages. Christopher is a guy. I'm sorry. I was nosey, but I had to know why you've been acting all strange lately. I was worried." Liam said not sounding to sure of himself.
"You went through my fucking phone? Are you serious?" Alex yelled at the top of her lungs standing up looking at him accusingly.
"I did. I won't deny it. I just wanted to help and you were hiding it from me. I figured now that I knew you were gay you might feel more comfortable." Liam said with a huff and sat back down. Alex stood above him. Her eyes were watered and she felt her heart constrict. He went behind her back and went through her phone, than decided out right she way a gay man than set a date up for her. She felt so betrayed.
"Why did you do that. I get that you were worried. Fine. I get it, but why did you set me up on yet another date? I am happy alone. If your tired of me taking up so much of your time. Than that's fine I'll find something else to do." Alex said sitting down on her couch resting her head in her hands.
"Come on Alex you know that's not it. I was just looking out for you. Not every guy is like that Chris guy. They won't hit you. I just want you to be happy." Liam said. Looking at the hunched over Alex.
"Ho...How do you know about him hitting me?" Alex said her eyes wide, filled with unshed tears.
"He admitted it in a text to you. I wish you'd talk to me Alex. You need to stop holding it all in. It's not good for you. It's eating you inside little by little." Liam said resting his large warm hand on Alex's trembling shoulder. Alex decided to change the subject before she really cried her heart out to him and told him EVERYTHING.
"Fine. I'll go on that date, but for now let this go. I'll tell you soon. Okay?" Alex said praying Liam took the bait and he did.
"Deal! Soon though, your promised. Now lets watch some television." Liam said his tense posture relaxing. Alex let out a breath she wasn't aware she was holding.
