Chapter 23

The following day Alex woke up first. She felt happier than she had in ages. Liam's naked body was wrapped around her protectively. She hated to wake him, but she had to pee so very badly. She felt a little self conscious, but not much. She pushed his arm off of her and practically ran to the bathroom. Once she was done she freshened up and took a short shower. When she exited the bathroom, she noticed Liam wasn't there. She rushed and got dressed, in a white and black sundress with black flats.

Alex exited her bedroom and walked down the hallway only to be stopped by Lydia.

"He will be mine. You don't deserve him. You deserve nothing. Not even that bastard in your belly!" Lydia hissed.

This caused Alex to mentally snap. She pushed Lydia up against the wall with her arm against her throat. It making a loud bang and got everyone's attention. They all rushed down the hall Liam worried out of his mind thinking something happened to Alex. What greeted him, he was not expecting.

"You are going to leave all of you. I never want to see any of you again and if you ever say anything about my baby again I will fucking kill you. Do you understand me?" Alex hissed through clenched teeth with her rage. Lydia nodded her head. Waiting for Alex to drop her arm. Alex stiffly let go of Lydia's neck, Lydia fell to the floor in a heap. Not expecting Alex to be so strong.

Lydia got to her feet and told Missy and Sarah it was time to leave and that they weren't welcome there again.

Liam walked over to Alex and wrapped his arms around her stomach. Calming his nerves as her tropical, floral scent washed over him. He was worried so very much so that he started getting a headache. Alex turned in his arms forgetting everyone else and kissed Liam's lips. Making Liam forget what just happened temporarily. Her hunger changed, now she wasn't craving food, but Liam's body, but now wasn't the time. Later she assured herself she'd sate her body's need for him.

Alex had never stood up to her family, but now with the baby on the way it was time she manned up and did so. Liam, Chase and Laura were so proud of her.

"I'm so proud of you Alex! You finally stood up for yourself! It's about damn time." Chase said whilst hugging her. Making her blush, but she hugged him back.

"What happened to make you snap Alex?" Laura asked concerned. She'd never seen Alex like that before. She was a little scared that Alex would actually hurt her own sister.

Alex explained how Lydia cornered her and what she said. Everyone was pissed especially Liam. Alex didn't deserve this kind of treatment. They all knew Alex meant what she said. She never wanted to see them again. Hopefully they took the hint and will leave them alone for now on, but Liam and Chase had a feeling Missy wanted them and their money.

First Chris than her family. They did this on purpose. Liam pulled Chase to this side and voiced his concern.

"First her ex and than her family. I bet her mom gave him her address." Liam said seething with rage, wanting to hit something.

"Oh I agree, but what can we do?" Chase asked confused.

All of a sudden there was a scream from the living room. They rushed from the kitchen to see Alex convulsing on the floor and Laura looking terrified. Chase called for an ambulance. He pulled Laura into his arms and cooed her, trying to get her to calm down.

Alex's convulsions didn't stop and Liam noticed blood coming from her nose. He knew it was serious. He just didn't know how serious. Alex was his world and he prayed he didn't lose her.

A few minutes later the ambulance arrived and loaded up an unconscious Alex in the back with a very stressed Liam.

Hours later Dr.Damon came out with a grim expression. Making Liam's heart weep in fear.

"Liam, Chase. I wish we could have seen each other again for a better situation. Can you tell me what happened before I tell you her condition?" Dr.Damon asked grimly. Worrying Liam and Chase.

Liam explained how her family showed up yesterday. How they made love. How her sister cornered and what was said. By the time he was done. Dr.Damon was fuming.

"I have bad news for you both. I'm not sure Alex will wake up. You see Alex already knew this, but she has a tumor in her brain. That's why she's been told to not over stress. It wasn't only for the baby. She asked me not to tell anyone, but since your practically family I had no choice. We put in a feeding tube and fluids. She's in critical condition due to being pregnant and under weight. Alex is like a daughter to me so I can understand how your feeling. If she wakes up you must not allow her to stress. Her and I discussed that once the baby was born she'd go through with the surgery to try and get rid of it. It's risky but she's strong. Oh on another note if she does wake up she may not remember you guys be prepared for the worst. She's in 274." Dr.Damon said quietly before walking away.

Liam and Chase walked silently into Alex's room. Alex lays motionless on the bed. Liam broke down in the door while Chase leaned down and tried to comfort his brother. It all became to real for him. He cried like a child in his brothers arms. Liam's hardly ever showed any form of weakness before. Chase didn't know what to do. His brother, his best friends lover is on deaths bed. He'd never seen Alex look look deathly nor at peace before, but here she lays looking peaceful.

13 Weeks pass and Liam hardly left Alex's side. They refused to leave. Chase left for work and to sleep, but other than that he was with Liam by Alex's side. Liam looked terrible, his eyes had purple circles around them and they were sunken in? He'd lost weight and it was clearly visible. Liam was killing himself slowly. Chase pulled Liam from the room, he was too weak to fight him.

"Liam you need to pull yourself together. In a few weeks your son will need his father! I get it you love her, but your killing yourself by not taking care of yourself! Jaiden will need you. He can't survive without both his parents! Do you understand me!?!?" Chase says after smacking him. Trying to get a reaction out of him.

"What do you want me to do Chase? I need Alex. She's my everything. For the past year she's been the only thing on my mind. Day and night, even when I thought she was a man. I had fallen in love with her. I can't live without her. I won't I refuse. I'm not strong enough to be a father without her..." Liam says heartbroken and hallow. His confession taking Chase off guard. He didn't think Liam would hurt himself, but he just made it very clear he would if Alex dies. He knew he loved Alex, but he didn't know he'd kill himself over her. He'd been shocked speechless to the point he didn't notice Liam going back into Alex's room.

Alex had to be okay other he'd lose two of the most important people in his life.
