Chapter 8

This could not be happening right now.

The silence is deafening except for the tiny taps of sounds that my feet are making. Walking is making me tardier. So I picked up my pace and started running in these the empty halls in Riverdale High. Music room is still on the second floor in this school. If only I was an athlete I would've run a tad fast. As I glanced at my wrist watch, I realized I'm already 10 minutes late! And in roll calling, I am supposed to be first! And I still curse the day my mom married a man with a family name that starts with an A.

I cannot believe my alarm betrayed me. Today we're going to have our midterm exam in Music and we're going to sing a song of our teacher's choice and play the instrument we choose and I'm fucking late.

When I barged in, all eyes were on me. Mrs. McKinley is giving me a flagrant look. I cast around trying to avoid that devious glare. One thing about Mrs. McKinley is that, she loathes seeing a student late in her class. Especially when you're one of her best students.

"Ms. Abiera. I hope you have a good explanation of choosing to be not on time during an exam." I smiled nervously, but she kept a strong face. I still don't get why she's always like this. I'm still not immune.

"I'm- I'm sorry it won't happen again. I had-" I tried to reason out, but then the door swung open revealing the blonde bad boy in school.

During our Physics class, he showed off his intelligence. It kind of took me a lot by surprise. Girls are now on his tail because they said, he's not only hot he's also smart. They gush over him because to them he's hot, talented and smart which is the new sexy, according to them. Blaah! Please, he's competition to me. He walked pass me and smirked. God he's such a big headed, egotistic, self-centered jerk.

Ever since he embarrassed me, I stepped up my game. I will never be speechless in his presence, I will never let him stump me around like I'm a piece of nothing.

This time, I'm fighting.

And also this time, he decided to be meaner and irritating. I don't know what the flying fuck his problem is.

Oh well, it's better than being yelled at.

"Ah, Mr. McDonough. Late as always." Mrs. McKinley stated.

"Ma'am forgive me." He said in his usual dull tone and flashed his signature smile.

But Mrs. McKinley is not falling for it. Haha, "Mr. McDonough how come your brothers are never late in my class?"

"I had errands." He replied as if it was nothing. I could not believe this guy. He's different compared to his brothers. His brothers are irksome but are still canty.

"Same excuse as the last time. Detention." She said firmly and started to walk back to her table.

He exhaled in irritation, "What about this person?" He pointed at me. Is he trying to drag me down into this shenanigan? And did he just call me person? I have a name! I growled at him.

Mrs. McKinley, shot her brows up, before she could even speak, I defended myself. "It's the first time for me to be late."

"Still, Mrs. McKinley you already gave me detention when I got late in class for the first time. I don't think anyone is exempted with that." He argued. You've got to be kidding me!

"Very well. Abiera, McDonough. DETENTION. NOW." I shot him a dirty look, making him smirk.

"What about the exam?" I inquired.

She took off her glasses and responded, "I'll give you both a different type of exam on the next meeting. Any more questions?" she asked. I immediately shake my head. "Go now."
