Chapter 9
Weekend and I'm bored.
My family, as always, aren't around because of the business dad is handling and the restaurant my mom is running, my brother is busy with his stupid nerdy school stuff. And here I am alone, looking for fun.
I texted my friends whether they have something to do today. Unfortunately, they do.
A message popped revealing Riley's name:
Rj, sorry I can't hang out. Jessa and I are having our first date this afternoon. My smile turned upside down.
Damn I forgot that they're going out now. I decided to look into my contacts to see if my other friends are not busy. But then I realized I don't have much friends.
Oh how could I forget I'm so popular. Note to my sarcasm.
My phone beeped, making me jump in excitement. Toby's name flashed in the screen.
Rovie, I have nothing to do :(
I hit reply: Tobs, same here. Before I send it, my mind thought of a brilliant idea. And added: What about we do something fun? >:)
******
"Psst! Toby!" I called him.
"Oh, there you are." he grabbed a chair and sat next to me.
"Sshh keep it down, we're trying to be in a low profile." I told him.
Toby and I are in Starbucks witnessing our friends date. We are also wearing disguises so that they won't be able to know we're here.
And yes, this is my idea of fun.
"Is the costume really necessary?" he asked as he fixed his fake glasses and hat. Toby is wearing a long sleeve shirt, rolled up to his elbow, and pants with suspenders with a suede brown shoes.
"Yes."
Meanwhile I curled my hair in place, wore a different style of eyeglasses. Matched with a sweater, a plain black skirt and my keds black shoes. I also have a fake mustache.
"Quick question though," he suddenly said, I turned to him with my eyebrows cocked, "How does my mustache look?"
"Toby, it's a beard. It's suppose to be on your chin."
"Oh, right. I know that." I rolled my eyes and continued to watch my friends made their way back to their table. "Sshh, here they come."
"I still don't think this is a good idea, Rovie. Let's do something else." he put down his newspaper.
"Why?" I sighed.
"Well, one. I don't like to see my brother making out with my friend. And two, what if we'll get caught?"
"We'll get caught if you don't shut up, and just take glances at them. Just pretend we don't know them. Gosh, you're such a baby."
"Am I pretty baby?" he bats his eyelashes at me.
"Ssshh!"
Back to lurking. Riley is holding Jessa's chair back before she could even sit, then push it back gently. I can see my friend's blush and Riley's smile that I have never seen before. He is such a gentleman. He lets Jessa sit first before he could. Well, I still think Chivalry is not dead with Riley around.
I can tell that they really enjoyed each others company.
I smiled seeing the two happy. Riley has been dying to meet and talk to Jessa, and now his wish came true. And I also knew my best friend has a thing for him. She's just still in the stage of denial. But I know deep inside, her heart is leaping at the moment.
