Chapter 28

(Rovie's POV)

"Hey." I called out to my friend Toby in this restaurant we're in. He's preparing his surprise to Anverly, who I haven't seen or hang out in a while ever since she got cloud nine with this new guy. But I bet she'll want Toby more, because let's face it, Toby is hot. But I'm not saying that in a pedo kind of way, but you get my point.

I brought my guitar along for him to borrow, because he forgot his due to the anxiousness, excitement, and other mixed up feelings he has inside his heart and mind.

I found my friend covered in sweat on his forehead, where he is occasionally wiping it off. He's wearing a white sleeved shirt that is folded upto his elbow, and a black semi skinny jeans paired with his black leathered shoes. He's playing with his hands in nervousness.

He found me and exhaled in relief, he gave me a long tight hug before gripping my hand. "I'm fucking scared, Rovie."

Touching his shoulders, I looked at him in his eyes and said, "Calm down, Tobs. You'll do great. I promise."

He smiled for a quick second at my reassurance, making me smile back. When I handed him the guitar I brought, he grabbed my arm, "Just please don't leave me Rovie. Whatever happens?"

Casting my gaze around, I sighed, "But don't you want to spend time with her when she says yes?"

"Well... not really. Because I want you to... be here. I don't want you to leave especially when things starts to get messy."

"It won't. Calm down." I stated firmly.

I can tell he's doubting his plan, but I think it'll go out wonderfully. "How sure are you, Rovie?" He inquired.

Grabbing his hand, I led him to the table because I got tired of standing. We both sat and responded, "Let me tell you this, Tobs. If it doesn't work out, it's her loss. But at least do your best and show her how much she means to you in these wonderful words that you put into a song."

I can see him tug a smile, "You're right."

"I know I am. Now, Go get her tiger."

***

(Toby's POV)

I waited nervously for her to come. I glanced at Rovie, who is two tables away with her weird disguise again (I swear this woman loves mustaches), watching me as I execute my plan for the girl that I have fallen.

Anverly Jean Beolanguis.

She's so smart, bubbly, pretty... and her smile... and her laugh... her sparkling eyes... I really can't get enough of her. Now I know we became a little distant because of school, and I saw her with a "friend" who happens to be a guy. She told me that he's just a friend. And I am feeling (more like trying) to be optimistic, since Rovie filled me in with words of wisdom.

And besides, I'm better looking than that guy she's hanging out with.

The moment the door opened, my mouth immediately dropped. Seeing her step in to this restaurant, looking stunning (as always), just made my heart leap out from my chest. "Hi Verl."

She smiles with open arms, meeting me to hug her. "Toby! Hi."

She smells so good. She looks so good. We shared a short laugh and settled to our table. "So um, what do you want to order?"

"I'm having anything that you would order." She kept a smile.

Something about her smile makes me worry. Because it's not her typically bubbly smile, but a smile that is just... a plain smile... a plain smile that means "just smile"... a fake smile. Or I'm just overthinking things. Chill Toby.
