Chapter 32

Jessa's POV

"Connor."

"May I come in?" The blond haired dude smiled. Not the friendly type of smile, but that satan-like smile.

Bitch, even satan bows to me.

So I kept my bitch-face mode on and answered, "No."

His lip quirk up, "This isn't your house."

He took a step inside, but I blocked him. And let's face it, he's no match with me considering his situation right now. "And this isn't your house."

"I need to see her." He insisted.

Both of us glare each other down. I never broke my eye contact, and answered, "Whatever mind game that you're playing with Rovie isn't going to work."

"Mind game?" He snorted a laugh, "I'm only here to see her. You women are confusing beings."

"You men are heartless beings."

"Hahaha. Okay."

He insisted on going in, but of course, I blocked him once again. "Leave or I'll literally kick your balls until it bleeds you dry." He rolled his eyes at me. I took a step closer, keeping a slight gap between us, and stood tall, "Don't try me, Connor."

Connor glared at me for my behavior. He still deserves it, after Cameron's revelation. He then left because there is nothing he can do about it. And I won.

I smiled in victory and closed the door.

"Who was that?"

Rovie suddenly said, making me jump. "No one special. Some lost girl scout."

"Oh okay."

We head back upstairs to her room, she looks up at me, "Umm, Jess?"

"Hmm?"

"Riley texted me. He wants to see you."

My eyes lit, and I cannot hide the smile, "Really?"

I saw her nod, "I think you should really message him. He has been bugging me about you. I would have told you about him looking for you but we were not in good terms at that time."

I immediately stood and fixed myself, "I will, Rovie." It feels like adrenaline running through my veins upon hearing those words from her.

"Yeah, win back your man!" Laila exclaimed.

"Okay, I will." I laughed, and turned to Rovie, "After this Rovie, you and I are gonna talk about you and Connor."

I saw her eyebrows meet, "But that's not necessary-"

I insisted, "Nope. We will talk about Connor. See you guys."

This is it. I sent Riley a quick message for us to meet up.

I cannot hide my excitement. Ignoring him was the hardest thing I did for weeks.

But crush that. Now that everything's slowly going back to place, I will do whatever it takes to return the old us.

Like what Laila said, I'm going to win back my man.

It wasn't long, I arrived at Abby's Coffee Shop, I saw Riley gazing at the window taking a sip of his hot coffee. A smile crossed my face when I finally saw the man of my dreams.

His head slowly turns to my direction, and our eyes met. A huge grin appears on his face when he saw me. "Jess?"

My heart couldn't stop jumping out of joy. By just hearing him say my name sounds so perfect. "Riley." I breathed.

He stood from where he is seated and pulled out my chair, he gestured me to sit, and then pushed it back gently.

I couldn't stop smiling.

He chuckled in delight, "How are you?"

"I'm good. And you?"

"I'm better. Now that I get to talk to you, finally." I look down to hide my blush. We shared a short silence before he continues, "Listen, I-"

Shaking my head, I cut him off, "No, Rile. Before you speak, let me tell you something." He didn't respond, but his eyes tell me to continue. "I get it now. I get why you're overprotective over my best friend, but it's fine. You two have been friends for quite a while too. And I know that you mean it when you told me you love me."

My expression changes when guilt starts to rise because of my actions, I feel sad. "I was just... being stupid, immature and bitchy, and insecure... and also I was trying to protect myself, but in the process of doing that, I was the one hurting myself instead." Riley slowly lands his hand on mine, "I guess all I'm trying to say is, I'm sorry. I'm sorry I doubted you. I'm sorry to assume so wrongly. I'm just afraid that I'll lose you."

I hear him snort. That's when I look up at him and asked, "I didn't lose you, right?"

He beams at me, squeezing my hand in reassurance, "Jess, you never lost me. I am always here. Sure I have been so busy managing at my anger, but there's not a day I never thought of you." Tears slowly form in my eyes when I heard those words, "I also just gave you some space for you to think. I'm sorry as well. For the way I acted. I'm sorry that I let you feel like I didn't care about you, but I do. I love you. I have and I always will."

I stood from my seat and attacked him with a bear hug. "Riley..."

"Jessa..." he whispered.

"I miss you."

"I miss you, more baby."

I lost count on how many times I smiled at this moment, I pulled away from the hug, "I'm glad we're okay now."

"I am glad too."

We settled back to our seats, "Rovie and I are okay now."

"Really?" His face lit.

"Yes."

I grinned, and he grins back.

Another silence occupied us. And I am thinking this might be a chance for us to finally talk about other matters, now that we're okay.

I cleared my throat, "Riley. I have been meaning to ask though. And I want you to tell me honestly."

He nods, "About what, my love?"

"Tell me what happened to you and Connor."

I saw how easily his expression changed. He looked at me. With so much question in his eyes. With his look alone, I can tell someone is going to be in deep shit.

"You know something?" He questioned.

"I want to hear your side, before I tell you what I know."

His lip quirks up, "I think you already know what I know."

So it's true.
