Chapter 13
Two more days and it's that stupid Valentine's ball dance thing, Connor and I haven't finished the song yet.
It's lunch time and I'm waiting for my friends to come while I rack my brains out for new lyrics to add in our song. Plus we haven't decided for a title yet.
As I write and frustratingly crush out some words on my paper, I can sense that someone sat beside.
I turn to see Cameron smiling at me.
"Oh, hey Cameron."
"Do you mind if I sit here?"
I shake my head, "No no, I don't."
He smiled at me in return. Now I have to go back writing.
What rhymes with moon? Soon? Loon? Stoon? Spoon? Mmm. Unhappy of what I wrote, I tore it and scrunch it to a ball. I can't focus. Because as I bit my apple, I can see Cameron from my peripherals watching me in curiosity as I write.
"So, what are you writing?" He asked while sipping his orange juice.
"Lyrics for music class."
"You're in Mrs. M's class?"
I nodded, keeping my gaze at my paper. "Yeah, but we were excused at the moment to finish our song for the Valentine's ball."
"That's so cool. Can I see?"
I looked at him surprised. "Umm, it's not yet finished."
He still reached for my paper, I hesitantly gave it to him. I watch him scrutinize my work.
He smiled at it and looked at me, "Nice. This is actually nice. Do you mind if I?"
Cameron asks for my pen and I am too stunned because he's actually helping me with our song. I seriously need to get this done, and since my partner isn't here yet, why not have some help right?
"Oh, not at all." I handed him my pen.
I watch him write down some lyrics. And I couldn't help but examine his face. He's really handsome. And hey, he looks like Justin Bieber.
Only, better looking.
"Here." I jumped to see him giving me back my paper.
I read the verse he wrote and find it amazing.
When the sun comes up you know that I'll be leaving
But tonight, let's spend it staring at the moon
Tryna remember all these times that we were smiling
I love holding you
I'm in love with you, girl, ohI blinked.
"Well, I just added what you wrote." He smiled at me and added, "Well, say something."
"Thank you! Oh my gosh, this verse is better now."
"You're welcome." He chuckled.
On cue my friends arrived with their pairs.
"Hey, Rj." Riley greeted me.
I stood from my seat, "Hey guys! Meet Cameron Dallas. He's a new friend of mine."
They all offered a smile, I turned to my new friend, "Cameron, this is Riley, Toby, Anverly, Kiamy, Regie, Laila, and Jessa."
"You have a habit of making new friends, Rovie." Toby said.
"Not to mention hot friends." Laila commented. Jessa elbowed her at her response.
Cameron chuckled and gave each one of them a handshake, "Hi, nice to meet you all."
That's when I see him hold Jessa's hand for a very long time, on the other hand, my gorgeous friend is casting her gaze anywhere, looking at him nervously and awkwardly.
I saw Riley with a wrinkled forehead, he cleared his throat, making Cameron snap out of his world.
Ooo someone's jelly bean.
As soon as we all take our seats Riley leans onto me.
"I don't like your new friend." Riley whispered.
"Oh come on, he's not that bad."
"If he looks at my girl just like that again, I won't hesitate to teach him a lesson." He retorted.
I rolled my eyes at my jealous best friend, "Guys, have you seen Connor? He should be here."
"Looking for your boytoy now huh?" Kiamy smirked.
I gave her a bored look, "He's not my boytoy nor he'll ever be my stupid boytoy."
"So he's your boyfriend?" Anverly teased.
"No!" I rolled my eyes at them, I saw them making that teasing face again, and I diverted topics, "Anyways, Cameron helped me write."
"Nah, it was nothing."
"Can I see?" Riley asked.
"No, Riley. I still hate you for suggesting Mrs. McKinley an idea of writing a special song for the new winners of the King and Queen of Hearts, and pick me and Connor to do it."
"Sorry, trying to help my brother."
I rose an eyebrow, "Help him, what exactly?"
"Nothing." He said with that knowing smile.
I growled, "Riley, I swear to-"
"Hey." We all turned our heads from the source of that husky voice.
"Connor, hey." Toby greeted.
"Who's the new kid." He inquired looking at Cameron.
Cameron looks at me with raised eyebrows, "Remember the guy when we left music class? His name is Cameron."
"Oh, him. Sup bro." He sat in between me and Cameron.
"Not much, bro. I heard you and Rovie are writing a song together."
"Yeah." He replied dully.
"He helped me. Write a verse." I told him.
"That's great. Oh and Rj, I made an excuse letter for us to be excused in all of our classes today."
"WHAT. WHY?"
"We still have to rehearse and finish our song, which we will write together."
I rolled my eyes at him.
Everyone in our table fell silent for a few seconds until Regie spoke.
"Yo, Cameron. Do you play football?"
"I do man."
"You should try out. There's an opening."
"I will, thanks."
"Cool, 3 PM this afternoon."
"Okay, I will."
The air is still filled with tension because Riley and Connor are shooting deadly glares at Cameron.
Poor guy.
It wasn't long the bell starts to ring and Connor pulled me away from Cameron.
"What is the matter with you?"
"I don't like your new friend."
"You sound just like Riley. Hold on." I turned to Cameron. "Hey, thanks for the lyrics. It totally helped."
"You're welcome. I can sense your guy friends don't like me. Except Regie, he's cool."
"They're always like that. They'll cool down soon."
"Thanks Rovie."
"See you later, Cam."
He waved goodbye, then I turned back to see Connor with his typical bored look.
Why is he acting like his satanic version of himself again?
He tugged my sleeve, "Come on, let's finish our song."
