the appointment

I walked out of class, turning my back on the uncomfortable confrontation with Mitchel. Ever since this pregnancy all ive been doing is stressing and focusing on Mason. I went through the day and walked to my locker to find Jaimee with a very stirn look on her face.

"where have you been? i havent seen you since your breakdown!" she lectured. i just rolled my eyes at her smiling. 

"ive been a little busy with Mason sorry". this caused a curious look to dawn my best friends face.

"why are you hanging out with mason still? youve been down that road before!" no matter what i could say to jaimee today, it would always end up in a lecture.

"whats wrong Jaimee? im here now we can talk about it" i spoke reassuringly. I had been a sucky best friend lately, and i needed to fix that.

"its this whole thing with Mitchel, i try to talk to him and all he does is change the subject or say that he has to go, i dont think he likes me" Jaimee admitted

"he would be insane to not like you, and thats not your fault its his. you can do so much better." all ive been doing for months is try to drag Jaimee away from Mitchel. i didnt want her to get hurt. But of coarse in true Jaimee nature, she wouldn't have any of that.

"I don't want better, I can tell if he gave us a chance it would work, his just not trying! Maybe I should wear a lower cut shirt?" Jaimee joked.

" Oh Please,If your shirt got any lower it would be considered a skirt!" I lectured, hoping to steer clear of another shopping trip, last months was bad enough! I walked out of the shopping centre with a brand new wardrobe filled with highlighter shirts because 'that's whats in style' to quote Jaimee. And it's safe to say those clothes never saw the light of day again.

"Hmm what are you doing after school? Maybe he'll talk to me if your around?" Hmph Jaimee's attempts just keep getting more radicle!

"I'm going out with mason, sorry. Maybe another day?" I apologised genuinely.

"You are? I swear this asshole is stealing you away! Again!" Jaimee looked rightfully pissed off, Mason and I didn't end on a high note last time we were together, actually it ended in a full out brawl in the cafeteria where I stuffed his pants with my pudding and pushed him down a table. Over dramatic? Yes, but he deserved it.

"I'm giving him another chance, but you will always come first Jaimee, I would never put him over you" I lied, I can't put Jaimee first, not with a baby on the way.

"Okay fine, just make sure you help me one day" Jaimee laughed, hugged me and trailed off.

I walked outside to Masons car and waited for him to walk out. I lent on the front of the car, which cluncked at the extra weight. Mason finally walked over, an with the wind running through his thick brown hair he looked gorgeous, so beautiful I blushed at the thought of him walking towards me. Mason wrapped his arm around my waist while his other hand rested on my cheek.

"We'll aren't you a sight for sore eyes? I'm pretty sure I've had a dream about this except you weren't wearing so many layers" Mason winked, making me giggle and blush In his hold. I was able to bring myself back into the moment long enough to push him off and inform him that we're going to be late.

We got straight into the car and I sighed in relief that it was sunny, so mason would drive faster... I thought. He drove so slowly everyone overtook us and we were ten minutes late.

I walked up to the counter and told the lady my name

"Maddison Andrews, I'm here for my appointment?"

The small women looked up at me with piercing hawk eyes

"Your late, fill out the form and we will try to fit you in" she spoke with annoyance in her tone.

I sat down next to Mason who had found a seat in the almost empty room. We were lucky it was nearly empty. I started to fill out the form while Mason distracted me by mocking the old lady who was so rude to me, I almost wanted to join him. Finally I had finished the form and my name was called. Mason held my Hand and walked me to the small office.

"Hello Maddison, I'm doctor La Spina, and you are?" The doctor directed to Mason

"Mason Kennedy" mason responded kindly as he shook the doctors hand.

Doctor La Spina smiled warmly, relaxing me an my fears, "what seems to be the problem?" He questioned. I bit my lip and squeezed Masons hand, he would need to help me through this.

"Maddison's pregnant and we wanted to make sure everything's going okay" Mason responded confidently. Thank god he was here!

"Oh, have you had the pregnancy verified by a doctor?" Doctor La Spina asked to me, although directing his attention to Mason, the only one out of us able to speak.

"No she hasn't, just home pregnancy tests."

"And how far along are you" doctor La Spina probed.

"Around 3 months" I interjected into the conversation

"Ah okay, we might get you straight into an ultra sound, did you follow all of the guidelines today? No eating, no using the bathroom?"

"Yes, mason made sure of that" I smiled tightening my grip on his hand.

I moved over to the bed, sadly I wasn't far along enough to have the ultrasound done outside of my stomach so that had to insert a camera thingo, I really zoned out after the word insert.

The gel was freezing on my stomach and the probe was very discomforting. I held masons hand tightly, waiting to hear the heartbeat. The doctor looked all over my stomach an my heart caught in my throat, my breath held, I closed my eyes praying for a tiny beat! And finally in came. A small flutter of my babies heart. I turned to Mason who looked relieved to say the least, he had tears in his eyes, he was so happy.

"The baby's very tiny for three months, you shouldn't have a difficult pregnancy" the doctor smiled.

"I can't believe that's inside of you, I love it" Mason kissed my hand and I stroked his cheek, although my eyes never left the little black screen. This was real.
