Raon reinforced Cale's shield and flew above the group.
- They seem to be coming from over there, Human!
Raon pointed his paw off to Cale's right, and Cale nodded. He'd keep that in mind.
Emmie scowled at the demons coming in. "These ones just lunge at you. I always flinched and closed my eyes when I fought them but if I were braver then I could just claw open their exposed bellies."
Si-Woo grinned. "Thanks, Emmie!"
Emmie's eyes widened before she hid behind her paws. Emmie was definitely blushing under all his fur, and it reminded Cale of his kids when Hans was fawning all over them. Cale could only imagine what Hans would do when the kids told him all about their adventures in this world, but he hoped it would distract the man enough to stop him from calling Cale that ridiculous nickname again.
Or giving him a new one that was even worse.
The group spread out—with the kids safely in the middle—and followed Emmie's advice. They were cutting down the flood of demons with relative ease—the only problem was the demon blood and bile spraying everywhere. Cale could feel more demons banging against his shield, but luckily for Cale, they all went around once they realized they couldn't get through that way. It was always annoying to choke on blood when attackers kept going after the shield.
"Cale Henituse, can you use your wind to put the bodies somewhere else? They're really piling up," Min Jung asked.
Yeah, it was quite annoying to look at. He activated the Thief's power and piled up the bodies a ways away from where they were fighting. As he did so, many of the demons stopped charging at them to stare at the bodies flying over their heads.
Cale could use the wind to blow away some of the demons to lower the intensity of the fighting, but his group seemed to be having fun. And if he did that, then the constellations wouldn't send them as many coins.
- Why are you smiling like that? Are we scamming someone again?
Cale glanced briefly at the sky and heard his child's laughter in his mind.
And everyone would be upset if he continued to use more than one Ancient Power at a time. His chest ached a little.
He scrutinized the group as they began singing to stop little Hana's crying at the cacophony around her. Did the people of this world even have plates? ...Did he even want to know?
He smirked.
[Cale Henituse: Do people have plates in your world?]
[Kim Dokja: Are you insane]
The bastard God of Death sent Cale a bunch of coins for his maniacal grin and clucked about the ferocity of his child to the other constellations. Just to be contrary, Cale shifted his expression into something as emotionless as possible.
[Kim Dokja: Either give me enough context to make that a proper question or stop distracting me. I'm busy.]
[Kim Dokja: Not everyone has a literal army of people to do all the work for them.]
[Cale Henituse: "Literal armies" are easier to manage than this group. There are no babies in the army.]
He reveled in the lack of response from the other man. This might even be better than springing random information on Alberu; Dokja didn't have the authority to assign him paperwork.
[Kim Dokja: You may want to stay away from the sketchily perfect town in the middle of the scenario.]
That was surprisingly helpful, even if it was a little obvious.
