Steve
Just go over and ask her. It’s not like you don’t know whether or not she likes you. Grow up and do it, this isn’t nearly as terrifying as storming HYDRA’s base! I thought, giving myself a pep-talk. Unfortunately, my subconscious had decided to give itself a split-personality disorder right when I needed it.
But what if she says no? What if she thinks it’s stupid? What if she breaks up with me afterwards?
I noticed Tony watching me, and he made a little ‘shove’ motion with his hands. I sighed before straightening up, and walking over to Sam, who was sat at a desk in the lab, drawing something, or another. I wrapped my arms around her waist. She usually seemed to like that, right?
She turned her head towards me and smiled, leaning up and kissing me gently. Her eyes sparkled and she looked as beautiful as ever.
‘Sup!’ she chirped, turning around in her seat. I placed my hands on either side of her, leaning against the desk.
‘So...’ I began. Tony scoffed. I looked over at him and he shrugged. I rolled my eyes and looked back at Sam, whose eyes were shining with excitement.
‘So, I was... um... wondering...’ I stuttered, a blush creeping its way up my neck.
Tony sighed loudly, groaning, and Sam looked over at him and frowned. I turned to him, glaring.
‘Tony, would you mind, please, giving us a minute?’ I spat out through gritted teeth, plastering a false-smile on my face. Tony smirked at me. He knew exactly how nervous I was, and was milking it for all it was worth.
‘I’m sorry Steve, but I don’t own time. I would give you a minute, if this was like that movie ‘In Time’, but it’s not, that’s fiction. So sorry, but I can’t.’ he said, sarcasm dripping off his tongue. I glared at him and he grinned.
I sighed and ran a hand through my hair. Sam sighed.
‘Tony, get out of here before I call Pepper.’ she warned. Tony held his hands up in defence, backing out of the room, still smirking at me. He winked at me as he stepped into the elevator, and I breathed a sigh of relief as the doors closed, before I turned back to Sam. I looked into her sparkling eyes and huffed.
Just ask her already!
‘Sam, would... would you...?’ I looked us at her eyes which sparkled with amusement. I closed my eyes and blurted it out.
‘Would you like to go out of a date with me?’ I asked. I didn’t really want to see her reaction, so I kept my eyes closed, for fear that she’d laugh in my face. I knew that Sam wouldn’t do that, but that didn’t quell my fear.
I was surprised by the feeling of her soft lips against mine. Her hand went up, around my neck, pulling me closer. I felt her smile against my lips before she pulled away, resting her forehead against mine.
‘I’d love to go out with you Steve.’ she said quietly, a small smile on her lips.
I started beaming at her words, and kissed her again, before pulling back and looking at her.
‘This Friday then?’ I offered. It would give me enough time to organise what needed to be organised.
Her smile grew wider as she looked up at me through her lashes. ‘Definitely.’ she grinned again, before pulling me closer, and kissing me again.
I couldn’t help but marvel at her, as I seemed to do a lot now. Sam had a power over me which I had no control over. I loved it. I pulled back and looked into her exquisite eyes as they shone brightly in the light.
