I stood in front of the mirror, wondering whether or not to change... again. It was Friday, Steve was taking me out in a little over an hour. I had been going crazy all day, trying to pick out something to wear. Nat had come with me back to my apartment, to help me pick out an outfit.

‘Are you going to actually show me the outfit this time before you discard it, or am I just here for decoration?’ she called from the living room. I sighed, smoothing down my top again before walking out to her. She sat, upside-down on my couch, her red hair hanging down in its light curls. She sat up and smiled.

‘Perfect.’ her face then dropped and she pointed her thumb to the door. ‘Can we go now?’ she asked. I nodded, laughing slightly at her, before grabbing my keys and my phone. What I wore was simple, but I liked it. Black skinny jeans, high heeled black knee-boots, and a flowing cream top, which faded into a soft moss green; simple, but elegant.

I had left my hair in its natural waves, only adding a little make up. Nat practically ran out the door as I slipped my keys and phone into my pockets. I ran down the stairs after Nat, who was already waiting impatiently at my car. I sighed and opened it, climbing in before driving us back to Stark Towers. We stepped into the elevator and I let out a nervous breath. Yup, still hated steel death boxes. Nat looked over at me.

‘You look nice.’ she said, evidently noticing how uncomfortable I was in the metal trap. I smiled at her in thanks and she nodded, smirking as I jumped out, the second the doors opened. I instantly relaxed, feeling the solid floor beneath my feet. We walked over to Pepper and Tony who were talking and laughing in the kitchen. Pepper waved as we got nearer, bouncing on the balls of her feet.

‘Are you excited? I’m excited for you! Yay!’ she chirped. I looked at her, slightly scared. It was odd seeing her so childishly excited. I turned to Tony and raised an eyebrow.

‘Am I like that when I get excited?’ I asked.

‘Yes.’ Both him and Nat replied, along with another voice from behind me. I turned to see Steve walking towards me, wearing his usual khakis, a white t-shirt and his brown leather jacket.

‘Only you’re much more adorable.’ he said, stepping up to me and kissing me softly.

‘You look beautiful.’ he said quietly. I blushed and he stepped back, swinging a set of keys around on his finger.

‘Ready to go?’ he asked, holding his hand out to me. I smiled, taking his hand as I nodded. He smiled warmly back at me. I turned and waved to the others, as Steve did the same, before pulling me towards the elevator. Once we stepped inside, he wrapped an arm around me, scaring away my fears. I craned my neck and grinned up at him.

‘How is it that I’m still this much smaller than you in these heels?’ I asked, smirking. I was only now barely past his shoulder in six inch heels. He smiled and shrugged, tickling my waist.

‘I dunno, short stack.’ he joked, before kissing me, stopping my giggles. The elevator came to a stop, and he, unfortunately, pulled out of the kiss. He grinned at me as I pouted, laughing as he pulled me out, into the garage, over to his bike. He climbed on and patted the seat behind him. I gingerly climbed on, wrapping my hands around his waist as he started the bike up. I squeaked and grabbed on tighter as we began moving forward. I had never been on a bike.

Steve turned his head back to me, smiling as he stopped the bike momentarily.

‘Don’t worry, I won’t let anything happen to you.’ he said gently, before turning back around and driving us out, into calm the New York evening. We drove through the streets, which were a-glow with their bright lights. I started humming ‘New York, New York’ as we came to a stop at a red light, and Steve’s chuckle vibrated through my chest. A few minutes later, we pulled into a small street, and then off, into an alleyway. At the end of the alley was a gate with an archway of bushes, lit by twinkling lights. A small stand stood in front of it, with a menu on it. Steve parked the bike, and we climbed off.
