Rimuru POV

The small sphere pulsed in my palm, its swirling colors casting dancing shadows across the chamber walls. Reds like fresh blood, blues deeper than ocean depths, purples that spoke of twilight mysteries, and golds that rivaled the sun itself - all shifting and merging in an endless, hypnotic dance. The artifact was deceptively beautiful, almost innocent in appearance. If I hadn't known better, I might have mistaken it for a child's toy rather than what could be the most powerful magical catalyst.

I settled cross-legged on the chamber's floor, my robes pooling around me as I began placing barrier seals in a precise pattern. Each seal was a masterwork of magical engineering, designed to contain even the most volatile magical reactions. The last thing I needed was my magical overflow destroying half the academy.

After checking each seal twice - paranoia had kept me alive this long - I took a deep breath and centered myself. The sphere seemed to pulse faster in anticipation, as if it knew what was coming. With careful precision, I channeled a thin stream of mana into it.

The reaction was instant and violent.

The sphere dissolved into pure energy that slammed into my mana core with the force of a thunderbolt. My back arched involuntarily, a silent scream caught in my throat as raw power exploded through every pathway in my body. This wasn't like absorbing normal mana - this was like trying to contain a sun within my flesh. Every nerve ending lit up with searing pain and ecstatic pleasure simultaneously.

"Gods," I choked out, my fingers digging into the stone floor hard enough to crack it. Small fissures spread out from where my hands pressed against the ancient stone.

My magical pathways, forged through years of training and refined through countless battles, felt like they were being torn apart and reconstructed at the molecular level. Every cell in my body resonated with power that shouldn't have been possible to contain. The pressure built until I could barely think, barely breathe. My enhanced senses began to overload, bombarding me with information I couldn't process fast enough.

Through the haze of pain and power, memories flashed before my eyes. Claire's face during our last training session, her eyes burning with determination as she pushed herself beyond her limits, refusing to give up even when her mana was nearly depleted. Kathlyn's quiet strength as she mastered techniques that should have been impossible for her age, her hands steady as she wove complex spells. Feyfey's unwavering loyalty and drive to improve, always there with a quick joke and quicker spell when needed.

They had all grown so much under my guidance. Now it was my turn to take the next step.

The barrier to the White Stage loomed before my consciousness - that crystalline wall that had taunted so many before me. It shimmered like diamond, ancient and seemingly impenetrable. How many prodigies had thrown themselves against it only to be broken? How many geniuses had been driven mad by their failure to breach it? The histories spoke of mages who had spent decades trying to break through, only to die in their attempts.

More power surged through me, and I felt something fundamental shifting in my being. My enhanced senses exploded outward, beyond anything I'd experienced before. I could feel every mana current in the academy, could trace the complex weave of ley lines deep beneath the foundation. I sensed the sleeping students in their beds, their dreams creating tiny ripples in the magical atmosphere. The night guards at their posts, alert despite the late hour. Even the small animals in the academy gardens registered in my awareness.

The pressure kept building. Too much. Far too much. My consciousness expanded until I could perceive the very fabric of reality around me - the threads that bound everything together, the spaces between spaces where magic flowed like rivers of light. The barrier crackled and groaned, beginning to show the first signs of stress under my assault.
