"Hello to everyone here today. Sadly my beta couldn't be here today, But we will still continue. Yesterday a pack member of the Starline pack crossed our boundaries, this is just a to give you a heads up for your own safety, we have put out extra watch guards and we assure you there is nothing to worry about. On another note, my son mason has returned home and is currently enduring hard core training to prepare him for the alpha position in a few months,"
Mason straightened up and walked up to stand in his fathers place, all the girls in the room swooning over him.
"What's the deal with pretty boy? Did he sit on a stick or something?" I smiled and elbowed Jays side. Mason was standing tall and proud, I can see what Jayden means but I still see a proud future alpha.
"When my father contacted me, I knew I had to come back home. Sure I had been dreading that very day for the majority of my teenage years. One thing my mother taught me when I was a little boy was to never run away. When confronted, grab it by the horns and charge at the problem head on. And that's why I'm standing in front of you today, I will never live up to my father. He was an outstanding leader for our pack and I know in my mind he will forever will be. Thank you" the pack erupted in applause, Masons dad engulfed him in a strong hug.
I smiled at his descending figure, Jayden's gaze burning the side of my head the whole time.
"Nice speech. Didn't think you had it in you.." I crossed my arms and leaned back on the wall, Jayden firmly planted beside me.
"Thanks, meant every word of it." His eyes held mine captive, I sensed the tension between Jayden and Mason in fact I wouldn't be surprised if everyone could.
Jayden slipped his hand around mine and tugged me towards the drinks table.
"What makes you think you have the right to pull a woman around like she's some sort of rag doll?" Masons eyes glared at the back of Jayden's head, my throat became dry as did my mouth. I can't have them fighting, not here, not ever. Jayden was stroppy with Mason over the other nights complications and Mason was a man with way too much pride and that just made Jayden despise him even more.
"Twelve years of friendship you asshat" I spun on my heels, Jayden so close I could feel his breath on the back of my neck. Masons face became a deep shade of red as his chest started rising and falling faster than normal. Dammit.
"You better watch your mouth kid, I can have you removed from this pack so fa-"
"Get over yourselves! Mason you're becoming an alpha, if you can't control your anger in a situation like this than how are you going to protect everything your father has worked for?" I was shaking, confrontation had this effect on me and I hated it but it was necessary in this case. I wasn't going to stand by and see a brawl occur.
Masons eyes darkened, I assume he wasn't a huge fan of being in the wrong.
"I have things to take care of" Jayden and I stood frozen, masons shoulders brushed pass the people filling the foyer as he stormed to the flight of stairs that I assumed lead to his room.
"I cannot believe he's going to be responsible for our lives and our safety, god help us all" I punched Jayden's arm, shaking my head I followed Masons disappearing form.
