I gently knocked on Masons door, I slowly turned the doorknob and slipped inside. I wasn't ready to dive straight into a serious relationship, I knew exactly what would be expected of me if we did. Nevertheless I did care for Mason, we were mates and I haven't admitted it to myself or to anyone yet but we both knew it.
"For god sake I thought I made myself clear Antonella! I don't need you to tell my father that I am distressed, I'm a big boy and I can handle this myself" he spun around expecting to see someone different and the look of surprise on his face was priceless.
"Sorry. I wasn't expecting you" I smiled and closed the door behind me, leaning against the smooth wood.
"I wanted to see if you were ok, I take it you are fine based of that little performance.." I peeked at him from behind my lashes, my head low so my hair was framing my face.
Mason step forward cautiously, his arm reaching up to rest his hand above my head against the doorframe. His face inches from mine.
"I can't explain how infuriating it was watching another man pull you away from me.. undermining me.." I pressed my finger against his lips, his eyes darting up to focus on my expression.
"I will speak to Jayden tomorrow and arrange some.. boundaries" my lip formed a small smirk but his face remained stone cold.
"Do you really have to speak to him.." his shoulders tensed up as he tugged at his hair with his spare hand.
"Mason, I know what we are and I'm certain I'm not ready to take things to the next step yet, I'm 17 and I cant take on the responsibilities of being the Luna of a pack.." I reached up and cupped his cheek, his eyes softened and he leaned his head into my hand.
"I understand, I was scared too and I promise you I will make this a comfortable process for you.. no pressure and no rush"
A loud bang interrupted the moment, Mason pulled me behind him and opened the door, I leaned my forehead against his chiseled back, turning my attention away from the presence of whoever was speaking to Mason.
"Sir there's said to be an intruder on our pack grounds" the guard had beads of sweat dripping down the side of his forehead, his chest heaving, panic was evident in his voice and I knew Mason was feeling his panic without having to see his face.
"Rachel you get back down stairs and mingle with the pack members, don't leave the premises. I'll drive you home"
With that said, Mason ushered me out of his room and jogged down the hall, the guard hot in his heels.
I sped down the flight of stairs, skimming the crowd looking for the familiar blonde hunk of a man I call Jayden.
"I've been looking for you Rachel , where did you go?" I took a swig of the drink he was holding and steadied my breathing.
