I must have fallen asleep after the pack meeting. The room was growing colder as the night progressed, I was contemplating whether to get a rug from the linen closet but my shivers encouraged me not to.
I fluttered my eyes open and stared wide eyed at masons well tanned chest. I managed to wriggle myself out of his grip for a moment bus his grip quickly latched back onto my waist and swapped our positions he then whispered Into my neck the warm air making me shiver.
"If that's how you thinks I'm actually going to let you leave my side this soon then your sadly mistaken my love.." His lips lifted up into a smug smirk. His eyes were dazed due to just being woken up.
"What if I negotiate with you.. I'll go make some dinner for the two of us if you let me go.." I slid my index finger down the bridge of his nose and down the the base of his neck where I placed a gentle kiss.
"Dinner? It's morning" he rubbed circle on my hip with the pad of his thumb. My heart and wolf swooning at the small gesture.
"Actually it's 6:33pm" I pinched his ear and stood up heading for the door. I was just wearing one of his shirts but it was like a dress on me, a put a bit of a swing in my hips as I walked. Earning a playful growl from Masons chest.
"She cooks and she's a good kisser, two points for you" he purred in my ear with his hands resting comfortably on my hips.
"So I'm just your maid?"I had a serious face and made it look like I was genuinely upset. This should be fun.
His face drained of colour and his heart stopped beating for a second. I could almost hear the warning sirens going off in his conscious.
"Because if thats all you want me for then you can shove this toast where the sun certainly does not shine" I shoved his chest and walked to the stove top to prepare some bacon.
I was mentally having a laughing fit while Mason jus stood frozen when I had left him. I assume he was deciding the right words to say next.
"You should't have done that" he growled playfully.
I made an effort to run down the corridor. When two strong hands matched onto my waist I knew it was over. There was no escape now. He threw me on the bed and started tickling me. The worst kind of punishment.
An abrupt bang made its way through the house, we looked at each other mentally debating whether to ignore it or not.
"I better get that.." I ran down stairs and opened the door to see Jayden standing with his hands awkwardly in his pockets.
"Jayden! I missed you" I swung my arms around his neck.
"Rachel I haven't seen you in days, Cassie said the same thing so I thought I'd come see if you were ready to come out of hiding." His lips tweaked up into a small smile, his eyes held relief and then soon after they contained shock.
It had been so long since I'd seen Jayden, his skin was tinged with. Slight tan and freckles were scattered across the bridge of his nose, his hair was even lighter from the effects of the sun.
"What do we have here?" I froze and mouthed for Jayden to stay cool, his instinct to protect his best friend were strong and I knew Mason was curious as to why there was a guy at my front door, I guess leaving it this late to introduce them to each other wasn't such a good idea after all.
Jayden's lips turned up into a sly smile, "Rach, the last thing I expected you to be doing was a boy, homework or Netflix and maybe even some YouTube makeup tutorials but a boy toy? That's new for you" my mouth dropped open, and based but the look on his face he had obviously accomplished his goal of embarrassing me.
He not only called the alpha of our pack a 'boy' but he went as far as labelling me as a teenage hermit crab that hibernates in front of the Tv all day.
"So this is Mason, Mason this is Jayden he's my best friend"
Jayden looked him up and down, his brows furrowed as he carefully constructs an appropriate response,
"Yeah. I think I've seen him around, I saved his ass the other night when he got into fight" his face showed dissatisfaction when the sentence lingered between the both of us.
"I was just wondering if you wanted to come over for dinner tonight and you know, see your family, we miss you and mums dying to catch up with you, the rest of us just aren't coping with her... girl talk" his nose wrinkled at the thought, Jayden had two brothers and his dad, leaving his mum all alone. When I joined the scene she latched onto me and adopted me as the daughter she always wanted. It was convenient for me because when my mum was out of town on business I always had my back up mum on hand.
"I'd be delighted, I'll bring a cake" I pulled my sleeve down and consciously ignored Masons close proximity.
"Great. Mum will be bouncing off the walls, I'll let you get back to whatever you two were doing, bye Rach, don't be a stranger, Ok?"
I nodded and pulled him in for an embrace, then waved as his care pulled out onto the road and sweeping off into the street.
"He seems nice" Masons tone stayed flat, my palms began to sweat and I mentally tried to gain some self control.
"He's important to me and if you wish to be in my life then you will make an effort to accept our friendship" I tapped him on the shoulder and sauntered through the hallway back to my bacon.
"I said he was nice! I just met the guy, and I don't appreciate that tone, I'm your alpha and deserve respect," I slipped my hair back into a ponytail and turned the stope back onto a medium heat,
"And I'm Rachel, I deserve just as much respect, as your mate and a fellow member of your pack,"
His breathing became deeper, and then it stopped. I turned to see his face and he was gone. No footsteps, no Mason."
