;emily;

As Liz called me down for dinner, I gulped while shutting my door. I wasn't the best conversationalist, and I hated talking about myself. Plus, I had to meet their son. He was only a few weeks older than me, but then again I've never gotten along with other teens.

I've never gotten along with anyone really.

As I took a breath and stepped into the kitchen, it was just Liz and Andrew. I smiled as Andrew gestured to a seat across from Liz, and I assumed Luke would be sitting next to me when he arrived.

"Have a seat," he smiles as I slowly sit down. "Luke's running late, he'll be here in a minute." I nod, taking a small bite of my spaghetti. Liz and Andrew continue to talk quietly about something, thankfully leaving me to eat.

"Mum! I'm home!" a deep voice shouts, I gulp as he walks into the room. He's a blonde boy, but he's got on a purple, green, and black beanie. He's wearing a letterman jacket, and he's got headphones around his neck. He tosses his bag to the side, throwing away the empty coffee cup. "This that foster girl?" he questions, raising an eyebrow at me.

He's definitely attractive, but that's weird. I take another small bite of spaghetti as he shrugs off his letterman.

"Luke, this is Emily. We told you we were looking into it, and when to be home to see her." Liz smiles, him sitting roughly in the chair next to me.

"You actually wanted me?" I ask quietly, completely surprised.

"Of course we did! We've always wanted a daughter." Liz smiles at me.

"More like mum wanted you." Luke scoffs, taking a bite of spaghetti.

"Lucas!" she scolds, him shrugging. "He's not usually like this, I'm sorry." she apologizes, me assuring that it's fine.

"Sorry I was late, I just didn't care." Luke chuckles, Liz shakes her head with a sigh, Andrew putting his plate in the sink and leaving us, annoyed with his son. "Did you have to get a girl that looked like... well that." Luke says obnoxiously, as I rinse my plate off and place it gently in the sink.

I sigh, Luke's words hurting me immensely. I thank Liz before going up to my room. This is definitely not going to work out. I hear Liz scolding Luke even as I'm in my bedroom, staring at the ceiling.

I sigh, grabbing my headphones and ipod, which I bought for myself, and played Car Radio by twenty one pilots. It's my favorite common song by them, but my actual favorite is Lovely, from Regional at Best. I lie on my stomach, facing the wall behind me with my music blasting. After Car Radio, About a Girl by Nirvana starts to play and I smile lightly.

I feel the bed dip next to me, and one of my headphones is ripped out. I turn to see Luke smirking at me. He's resting his head on his arm, the position he's in has made his grey shirt ride up a bit, exposing the bottom of his stomach.

"You may be annoying and ugly, but you have good music taste." he nods, but I scoff and take my headphone back from him.

"What do you think you're doing?" I inquire, scowling at him as he chuckles, taking the headphone back.

"My mum said I had to come hang out with you until she said otherwise. Apparently I was being 'rude' or whatever." he shrugs, tapping lightly to the beat of the next song.

I groan, just wanting to be by myself. "I'm gonna change." I stand up, unplugging my headphones and playing my music out loud. Luke is sat on my bed, leaning against the back wall and facing my whole room. I lean over, grabbing pj's from my drawer and turning around seeing Luke still has a smirk plastered on his face, God I just want to slap him.
