I blow out smoke from my nose, watching the wind whip it away. After finishing my cigarette, I climb into my room through my window.
Sighing, I examine my English homework that I don't want to do tonight but probably should. Shrugging, it gets stuffed back into my folder and put away for now. It's Saturday, so I can do it tomorrow, but I'll probably just wait until last minute.
Laughter echoes through the walls next door, and I think it's safe to assume the assholes are over. Calum isn't so much of an asshole, but still kind of.
With a groan, I take my phone from my pocket and plug it into my speakers that Andrew gave me. I click shuffle and turn the music up, nodding along to the beat as The Great Escape blasts through them.
It's turned up so loudly that I can feel the vibrations, which probably doesn't make anyone else in the house happy but I'm enjoying it. Liz and Andrew probably won't say anything to me, but Luke and his friends swing the door open. I turn it down just enough to hear them.
"Do you mind?" Ashton furrows his eyebrows, a frown on his face. I smirk at them, shrugging a bit.
"No, I don't mind the music actually."
"You know what we meant." Luke rolls his eyes, watching me pick at my nails.
With a small huff, I turn the music down slightly more. Calum gives me a small smile as the boys leave my room. Rolling my eyes, I go downstairs where Liz is calling us all anyways.
I lean against the door frame, slightly out of the kitchen where everyone else stands. I get ushered in by Andrew anyways though.
"You all need to get out of the house, so take some money and go hang out at the mall. Together." Liz says sternly, looking at Luke and I mostly. We roll our eyes and glare at one another, everyone else just being annoyed.
I'm annoyed too, but he's a complete asshole, so not much I can do there.
I quickly change, Ashton driving us all to the mall. Climbing out of his car I make sure to slam the door before Luke can get out. He gives me a shove, walking away.
"Just leave her alone, Luke." Michael sighs, surprising Luke with that.
"Why? She's the one being a bitch. You didn't have trouble agreeing last time." he scoffs, flipping Michael off as we walk into the mall.
I give Michael a small, timid smile as thanks. He almost doesn't catch it, but when he does he gives me one back. His is a giant, sloppy grin. One where you smile so hard it spreads across your face and it just makes everyone else want to smile as well.
For a while, I just follow the boys around and stay quiet. Calum sends me looks every now and then, making sure that I'm still with them and okay.
Luke continues to insult me, eventually I just attempt to tune it out. That is, until he pulls off a huge shirt from the rack and asks a worker if they have a bigger size for me. Ashton glares at Luke, apologizing to the worker as I bite my lip.
"Luke, just stop! You need to just shut up!" Calum snaps at him, taking everyones attention. Luke rolls his eyes at him, a sigh escaping his lips. Pinching the bridge of his nose, Michael agrees with Calum.
"Why are you guys defending her? Do you like her or something?" Luke gags, pretending to vomit everywhere. The boys shake their heads, Ashton joining in now.
"Luke, she's still human. And what would be the problem with liking her anyways?" Ashton questions Luke, me standing back as I watch the boys. I know why Calum is defending me, but the other two? No idea.
